Official South Melbourne Hellas thread 🔵⚪

We dont need anyone from Bergers, they're a system based team and players look better cos of the coach.

What we need to do imo is play Retre at RB where Sydney fc often used him, Painter Andrews with his speed can be one of your off the bench impact players, he can also play on the wing where i think he is better anyway. Pasquali and TG should be in the middle.

Sinisa has to turn either Uchida into a creative force again or Yoo. One of those 2 need to go nuts for us creatively if we are gonna go anywhere.

The best cb in the league is Bryce and its daylight to the rest. Wish we had him.
Totally agree to all of this.

Our bench becomes really strong and provides Sinisa with real options to turn matches around but also put on fresh legs to maintain results.

Lackay and Mesourouni will sit on the bench.

I think Yoo has a fair bit to offer this team. He would have had a full week of training and would be getting to familiarise himself with his new team mates.

Senior Men’s Squad Update | June / July Registration Window

South Melbourne FC can confirm the following changes to our senior men’s squad following the conclusion of the 2026 mid-season transfer window.

Joining the club for the remainder of the 2026 season are Bul Juach from Pacific FC (Canada), Paulo Retre from Wellington Phoenix, David Yoo from South Island United and Hassan Ramazani from Vanuatu United. The club has also added youngsters Richard Nkomo from Newcastle Jets and Sam Fawcett who is a former South Melbourne and Melbourne City junior also.

Andre Skapoulas has also been elevated to our senior squad for the remainder of the season.

Departing the club on loan are Nahuel Bonada, who joins Preston Lions, and Ilia Shalamanov-Trenkova, who also leaves via a loan to Altona Magic. Ethan O’Sullivan has also returned home to Perth.

The club also farewells Thierry Papadimitriou, Lucas Inglese, Jack Pope, Luka Coveny, Charlie Leech, Ishveer Singh, Campbell Dovison, Che Gorr-Burchmore, Luca Durso, Thomas Killick, Gerry Angelatos and Angus Angelatos, with many of our younger players moving on in pursuit of regular senior football opportunities.

We thank each of our departing players for their contribution to South Melbourne FC and wish them every success in the next chapter of their football careers.

We are delighted to welcome Bul, Paulo, David and Hassan to the Hellas family as we prepare for a crucial second half of 2026 across the NPL Victoria, Australia Cup and Australian Championship, while also building towards the 2027 Oceania Professional League.

a waste letting dovison papadimitriou and osullivan all go without at least being a loan. These are all players that have showed enough understanding if they want regular game time but the club should be doing more to keep them at least on the books. Bonada loan absolutely reaks. If you're going to loan him send him to Brunswick ffs

There’s a lot to unpack in that website article.

What may have been missed by some are the additional signings of 2 youth players. Likely headed to our U23 side. In total, 12 players were released. We were always going to release a number of players due to the completion of the OFC Pro League season, but so many of them are U23 players. The question needs to be asked is what are the implications for the U23s side?

Not sure why we released players like Dovison, Papadimitriou, O’Sullivan and Leech. Perhaps it was likely they weren’t going to see much game time.

I think the club wanted to loan most of these players out and Sam Poutakidis had mentioned it on 3xy but it looks like we pissed the youngsters off and they all wanted to outright leave.

In the end we end up loaning out Bonada which absolutely reeks for sure, a team thats literally just above us on the ladder. We couldnt send him to a juve or bulleen?

Maybe he was set to stay and that altercation did happen and we were the ones desperate to get him away by any means.

Preston would never loan South a player so we just look like fuckwits.

Nkonko made 1 a league appearance starting on boxing day. Fawcett I could only find 1 appearance on the bench for eastern lions this season apart from that couldn't find anything in u23s

Mesa playing instead of max will work better cause painter Andrews on long throws plus mesa runs more and does more with the ball
Seriously Mr Mounirouni please stand up and fuck off with your little brat and fuck right off from our club. Your a snake and most importantly your a deadset cunt.

We don't want you or your pink boots here

In all of this madness, we have a match on Sunday against Dandenong Thunder. Nothing less than 3 points against a team that has lost 17 players. This match needs to be viewed as racking up a big scoreline to finally get our goal difference back into positive territory.

The positive thing is that Preston faces Avondale and Oakleigh face George Cross. I hate to say it, but we need Avondale and Oakleigh to win to help us get back into the top 6. Given the amount of points we have dropped this year, I just cant see us finishing no higher than 5th. That means all our finals matches will be played away from home. The only positive is that the grand final will be held at Lakeside.

Depending on how results play out this round, we could move to as high as 5th on the ladder.

Before we get ahead of ourselves of potentially making finals, lets first defeat Dandenong Thunder.

Bonada is a good bloke (was awesome with the supporters and kids) but clearly quite hot tempered and passionate - can see him being quite volatile and difficult to deal with when things went wrong

He also comes from a very poor background in Argentina so not surprising he’s very money hungry

Shame we couldn’t get him to Brunswick but it is what it is
Why is everyone here wishing he went to Juve? I dont get it?
