Sign Up Now!Looks like we won’t get Argentina vs Portugal till (if they make it that far) the final now. Some good matchups in there though!View attachment 7986
You could argue we have the slightly weaker corner but all areas have some giants.
The only thing I could think of was that the officials mistakenly thought that a defender of ours played it to him.Nope. I always knew that was offside. He was basically on the line when the ball was played to him.
If I’m not being biased, I’d say:
I think the experience will improve the AFC teams and make them tougher competitors over time. Personally, I’m pretty happy to see West Asia get hammered.Australia and Japan the only two Asian members to progress to knock outs.
Would’ve loved to have Younis to call on in the last 30 mins of USA or Paraguay instead of Vellupillay or HrusticJust let it sink in how wasted the Leckie selection was. Stupidest call up.
Shame about Uzbekistan. They had a tough group and some bad luck along the way. Hoped to see them achieve a bit more.I think the experience will improve the AFC teams and make them tougher competitors over time. Personally, I’m pretty happy to see West Asia get hammered.
Iraq, Jordan, Uzbeks with 0 points, 9 losses, 6 goals for and 25 against.Shame about Uzbekistan. They had a tough group and some bad luck along the way. Hoped to see them achieve a bit more.
I was rooting for Uzbekistan, Jordan and Iraq from central and east Asia when they played. No love for the others.Would’ve loved to have Younis to call on in the last 30 mins of USA or Paraguay instead of Vellupillay or Hrustic
I'm gonna have to road trip to Townsville for that! Thsts awesome.Looks like we’re gonna play Brazil in Townsville and Brisbane in September!!!
why carry this on in this WC 26 thread when you started one on the topic.Looks like we’re gonna play Brazil in Townsville and Brisbane in September!!!
I love that confidence and would like some too. What's your thinking there? I'm kind of nervous about this game.As for Australia v Egypt, there is an injury cloud on Mo Salah. But even if he was fit, I would be expecting to win. Iran should have beaten them the other day and I would suggest we are a better team than Iran (or at least at the same level as them).
I’m very surprised that Egypt are bookies favourites. But we have a long history of being underestimated. I’m taking that $3.50.
Socceroos locked in for a two-match friendly series against Brazil in Townsville and Brisbane on September 25th and September 29th, the first games for both sides following their respective World Cup campaigns.Looks like we’re gonna play Brazil in Townsville and Brisbane in September!!!

When Egypt beat New Zealand, it was their first ever world cup win. They have never been to the knockout stage under this type of format, so this is all new to them. And irrespective of whatever happens on Saturday, they will consider this tournament to be a success.
But I believe we are at a more advanced stage as a footballing nation, and we will see this as a world cup as a failure if we don’t progress to the last 16. The people that manage our squad have been in this situation, so we do have some experience on our end.
Of course, none of that guarantees us a victory, and I can’t say I know a lot about the Egyptian squad apart from the obvious players. But I have watched their games. Sure, they did OK against a Belgium who failed to fire on all cylinders. The NZ goal against them suggests we could be a huge threat from set pieces. And apart from a few decent patches, I thought Iran completely dominated them.
Apparently, the net value of their squad is higher than ours, but not for long. I am confident we will have some players in demand during the transfer window.
