Sign Up Now!This is the Auckland FC reserve team that's playing in the OFC Pro League grand final against Hellas which is essentially the same as the NPL sides fielded by A-League clubs.Excuse my ignorance, what’s the difference between this Auckland side and the teams a league clubs field in the npl, is this their equivalent team?
The injury doesn't look good for Eliopoulos and we may well have to go without him for a large chunk of the latter half of our season.Geez if we lose the match and Eliopoulos stretchered off.
Seems like they’re stronger than most of the a league npl teams, normally they struggle to finish in the top of the table in npl let alone win continental titles. Maybe less restrictions on what sorts of players they can field re age etc? This is the Auckland FC reserve team that's playing in the OFC Pro League grand final against Hellas which is essentially the same as the NPL sides fielded by A-League clubs.
Auckland FC's reserve team has been the dominant side throughout the OFC Pro League circuit series and they seem to have learnt their lessons from the loss to South Melbourne the last time they met as part of the Leaders Group matches.Seems like they’re stronger than most of the a league npl teams, normally they struggle to finish in the top of the table in npl let alone win continental titles. South Melbourne have also struggled to convert chances into shots on target and our forward line has been fluffing chances throughout the first half in addition to being unable to put pressure on the Auckland FC reserves players. Our press has largely been inefective. They have been too quick for our players all over the field and we dont seem to have the solutions to unlock them outside of set pieces. The match is being played on there terms completely.
We can at least hold our heads up high and say that Hellas made it to a continental final but at the conclusion of OFC Pro League we need to start culling players and getting preparations for the latter half of the season underway.Time to call it, we sacrificed the month of May in the end for nothing. The venture has been a failure. This was like the Esteban grand finals, created bugger all.
South Melbourne still get a sizeable amount of prize money for making it to the OFC Pro League grand final which we can use to bolster our playing list for the latter half of the season including the Hahn Australia Cup competition proper and Australian Championship. So South Melbourne lost a bunch of games in their own local league on purpose, just to finish runner up in a new Zealand based league?
Wow what a top club!
An absolute fckn waste... blew the NPL in 1 month to come out with a performance like that and for what? a participarion medal... out fckn standing work... now i will remain patient until the transfer window and see what corrections are made for the tragedy that is swibbel and co... till then the balcony crew can continue the congratulatory toss offs at the idea they got on fifa+ tv... the team as is wont get past the 32 in the AU Cup!Time to call it, we sacrificed the month of May in the end for nothing. Swibel will likely be given extra training or be relegated to the reserves for a bit but we'd expect players like Lackay and Singh to be delisted altogether now that we don't need them along with other players who are considered surplus to requirements at the conclusion of OFC Pro League.now i will remain patient until the transfer window and see what corrections are made for the tragedy that is swibbel and co...
