Asian Champions League 1 and 2 thread

True - but we still have a reasonable record against then considering their standard. - 20 wins and 21 draws is better than I thought - albeit with 43 losses including qualifiers. Yes there have been the occasional blowouts by the the elite teams but it surprised me how competitive against the next rung we are.
81 points from 84 games is probably about right if they are a division higher in quality as that would put a team in the relegation zone in most leagues

hahha it gets better and better. Now its some clubs that Lobbied hard for Bergers to not play in Asia.AND the FA "put it in writing" this is going to be funny. .

“Football Australia, for whatever reason… I suspect it’s because of the fact that they’ve been lobbied hard obviously by others and have just gone, let’s hide behind that clause even though on sporting merit and by criteria, by their own admission, we’ve ticked all the boxes.

They’ve actually given us in writing that they’ve given us a licence to go and play in Asia.

Hmmmm.... kinda reads more embarrassing for Heidelberg here.

FA in affect are saying there’s a clause in the AFC regulations that means we can’t go in and Victory can. So they’re blaming the AFC but the AFC has nothing to do with it.
Yikes Heidelberg! 🤦🏽‍♂️ It is literally the AFC regulations, online for all to read. It's ALL the AFC, not "nothing to do with" them.

to be able to qualify for ACL through our performances on merit, on the football pitch in the Australia Cup
Again, no they haven't qualified "on merit". Only via winning the Aus Cup would it be on merit.

It pretty quickly came to our attention that the rules and regulations around qualification for ACL Two, as described by Football Australia and in the rules of the competition

I was all for Heidelberg going for it, but this response is quite deluded now.

They HAVE form the old Bergers... Always the victims of one injustice or another... Like I said if they had a real case I would have backed them in, despite the rivalry.

100% it is absolute waste of time even bother with the appeal process when it was AFC who made the final call to notify Football Australia and the fact executive director of football Heather Garriock on Tuesday said we respect and accept the outcome of AFC’s review and congratulate all the teams representing Australia in the AFC Champions League next season.

I think Adelaide can go a long way but not sure on the Jets and Victory, they have lost a lot of good players ands it gonna be a massive rebuild for these 2 sides. Wish them well though.
