The Melbourne Victory Thread

Sacking Diles isn’t enough for mine. John Didulica needs to go as well. An Australia cup trophy in 5 years at the club is unacceptable.

His recruiting has been average at best. Our women’s programme is jogging on the spot. and we’re not integrating any youth into the senior men’s team.

Also listening to the season ending FVS, they make a good point about our recruiting. A lot of our players are vanilla who lack that killer instinct and don’t put bums on seats. We have fallen to 4th this year in attendances.

When recruiting for next season, we can’t just use Jamestown Analytics for data driven recruitment… we need to use those algorithms to bring in the type of players that will fight for the badge and help bring crowds back. It would also help if we were able to being in a big name to replace Mata (assuming he is leaving).

As for Manager, its a big pass on Milicic. Diamanti would be a very interesting choice. So would Sergio Raimundo… it’s time for him to step up to a senior role.

Melbourne Victory women were very lucky to make finals this year on for and against and the import players brought in for this season haven't really performed as expected with Kennedy White only scoring eight goals but still managing to win the club's Golden Boot and Payton Woodward hardly getting any game time between the sticks, in addition to the fact that John Didulica has made some questionable recruitment decisions including delisting Rachel Lowe given the amount of experience she has along with the value she was bringing to the playing list.

Piscopo was never consistent enough.
Injuries set him back all too often, which always opened the door for someone else to take his spot.
No denying the guy has raw talent, but talent is meaningless if you cannot play.

I think that, like Arzani, Piscopo has never scored enough goals for the position he plays. That makes both of them highly dispensable.

Yeah you can't carry injury prone players in a salary capped league with squad size limits.
This is exactly the case as if you sign injury-prone players then you risk them missing half the year due to injury and they take up salary cap space as well as a playing list spot that could've been used for other players who would have made more of an impact during the campaign.

On the Doddsy and Rinaldo pod, Dodd is suggesting Victory might be going after Milligan, and there are a lot of departures at Newcastle.
Mark Milligan would likely want to stay at Newcastle Jets for their AFC Champions League Elite campaign though unless they want to bring in a better head coach ahead of next season.
