NPL 2026

Great to see. The interest in NPL NSW has been fantastic, for some clubs.

We got roughly 1700 against Wollongong and 1500 against Olympic.

So we've been averaging well above last year's attendances.

That’s why it’s just annoying when you see people’s hot takes during the championship re Sydney United’s crowds seemingly without any context as to what the club has been like leading up to that point and how it got there etc. they just watch 1 or 2 games and judge them and make broad simplistic statements which are easily falsified if you had been following the club at npl level

It has been great to see across the league. I wonder if it’s the impact of the Championship and I wonder if it is also happening in other states.

Tell that to the young lads playing for the shirt and the fans.....
I will be there, but primarily as I am going with a mix of Hellas and Alexandros fans.

We intend to get there early, eat some tucker, and have a a few drinks, and then enjoy whatever our young guys can dish up.

Not sure if I am willing to attend the next 2 matches though. Maybe the Georgies match.

To each their own... I follow the club NOT individual players or results.
Like I said in an earlier thread, it was the Oakleigh match that soured me. And then, to add salt to the wound, we go and play a match at Port Melbourne Urinator's (or is it Defecator's?) ground without explanation.

There is only so much you can take.

I'd been keen to hear your thoughts if we cop a cricket score tomorrow night and how frustrating it was seeing our kids not be able to cross the halfway line.

I will in no way blame the kids, but this can never ever happen again. I've already questioned why we have 22 players in Auckland (more than any other team in ofc). A lineup similar to what we had against Bulleen i'd turn up for because thats at least senior players.

Whats expected in the next 3 games is too much for me, its not right.

@Son of Sam @southmelb 100% correct but we are where we are now and have to get through it, hopefully successfully, and learning from the mistakes we made this year... the problem remains the depth this season and some overly non ligical decisions along perhaps with the fact we shouldve pushed harder to get a break on dates of our local games during hubs ... it is a first though so i will cut some slack but its not to be repeated if we want to call ourselves a serious club.

Teething issues im hoping, the decision to participate in all comps though is the best one for our club and i support it fully... if other doors open up then we reevaluate it.

Actually .... your last comment is the pertinent one.

What we are doing to those kids is troubling. I get it is only a sport, but it is as you say .... 'not right'

You are both entitled to your opinions, nobody can tell you what sort of fan to be... For me, its loyalty to the club Uber Alles.

I will bitch and moan till the cows come home about the manager, and the lineup and the board because thats my prerogative as a member and a fan but the 11 on the pitch wearing royal blue ARE South Melbourne Hellas for those 90 mins in my eyes... regardless of who they are.
