I have received an email regarding voting for players for the above mentioned awards.
It would appear that there is no awards night again this year, awards will be presented at halftime at the grand final.
If this is the case then it’s a further indication of professional football going on a downward trend.

We have bigger problems for sure I think the brownlow being a whole night is an Australian thing. Do other countries do that?

Just announce the players and let them give a interview and should still be able to get a bit of press if they are smart

Player awards are part and parcel of sport in Australia so why should Football be different.
It’s there to acknowledge people’s contribution to the sport. It’s a bit disingenuous to say that they should just give an interview and hopefully get some publicity for their achievements.
Poor form in my opinion.

Doesn’t England also have award nights like the London Football Awards?

I LOL your typical Melb centric that Brownlow - your right very Melb thing but sports end of season award nights and more are done world over mate
Be it club levels - big 5 league type levels and wait heard of ballon dor re football ?
This place and the pro league are embarrassing face it.
It’s utter BS and lol at a GF.
Not even afl nrl do that.
Shame shame seriously for our game tbh but I shouldn’t care at the time but can’t help myself because of our Game looking like idiot !

Ok so my original comment was disagreeing with you about the awards. It was under my impression that a live sports award broadcast was only done in Australia brownlow or whatever nrl does.

But if other leagues in the world do it we are probably missing out. So I admit I'm wrong and agree with you that apl should get their shit together and organize a live awards event.

Thanks for clarifying.
In my original post I did surmise that the awards were given out at the grand final, this in fact only happened in 2024.
I have since ascertained that an awards ceremony was held at the Star Casino last year and was broadcast on YouTube.
Hopefully a similar event will be held this year because it is raising the profile of the players and also the league itself.
We need every bit of publicity we can get.
