One part was Covid, but Fox had to start cutting back as they were paying over the odds for the Rugby league and Australian rules. Why were they dumped?
That wasnt the stat hg gaveThat is not how average attendances work. Do the EPL do this if Luton, Wrexham or Wigan come up and MUFC, LFC & AFC get relegated.
Fudging figures only ends you up in a mess of lies.
Not fudging anything. It's another set of figures. I know some can't grasp it but it's there for those interested.Again, fudging figures. We have 12 teams and that is how you gauge it.
To each their own then. Not fudging anything. It's another set of figures. I know some can't grasp it but it's there for those interested.
It's comparing like with like for the 10 oldest clubs, the growth/decline of them individually and as a group.
Agree with "peaks and troughs", same thing happened in J-League and MLS etc. It's just disappointing that we're still digging the trough. To each their own then.
FWIW, it is only a twenty year old league, and it is still miles ahead of its predecessor.
Peaks and troughs will happen as they do in all leagues in minor football countries.
Fox sports had better TV ratings then with we see now, Since we left Foxtel its been all down hill viewship wise,Also paying big money for a product that no one was watching, will never see that sort of money again, unless they improve the product
Back in the day Fox was the king broadcaster for sometime till other mediums came to be but the real kicker and lead was they also had the EPL and many of us watching leading into epl koffs.Fox sports had better TV ratings then with we see now, Since we left Foxtel its been all down hill viewship wise,
I'm not sure if others will agree but TV when Fox were king was just somehow more seamless. TV and box on and go. Sure now it's TV, App and go but I find TV using internet still offers too much of a lag.Back in the day Fox was the king broadcaster for sometime till other mediums came to be but the real kicker and lead was they also had the EPL and many of us watching leading into epl koffs.
the GFC didn't helplet's have a look how we got here

Cross-promotion for the A-League on Foxtel drops significantly. 2017/18 10,915 War on Active: Phase 2 The "National Club Identity Policy" is used to restrict banners/tifos. Transition is plagued by technical issues and no "pause/rewind" features. 2022/23 7,865 The "Final Betrayal" Sale of Grand Finals to Sydney. Fans feel the "soul" of the league has been traded for cash. 2025/26 8,346 The Modern Slump Despite the Matildas' success, A-League attendance is still nearly 50% lower than its 2008 peak.
This isn't even including mismanagement by clubs etc roars owners, bucket boy and wsw etc
agree it was that much easier back then - sure people complained of the cost, well IF you went the whole hog it was expensive but I fine tuned my package alot and was happy to pay - infact I still have Fox.I'm not sure if others will agree but TV when Fox were king was just somehow more seamless. TV and box on and go. Sure now it's TV, App and go but I find TV using internet still offers too much of a lag.
I think some have perfect experiences but the apps such as DAZN, Paramount, Sky and others are full of bugs where rewinding isn't as easy as when it was on a cable receiver recording.
Very good summarylet's have a look how we got here

Lowy didn't spend his money - he encouraged others toLowy cash gone = league struggling.
Ain't rocket science, look how much $$$ is being pumped in to MLS.
Wrexham another example.
Palmer would have been good for the league had he not been a nutcase.
There have been rumours that Dazn (owners of Foxtel now) are not happy with the deals done with the AFL & NRL because they are limited markets. Whereas football, they can tuck the AL into overseas bundles.
If a crisis is coming you can be sure the AFL will be the first to knowInteresting discussions around the AFL re lower crowds and fuel costs. Big worries about gather round. Ideas getting thrown around about clubs offering fuel vouchers and encouraging people to car pool to games. To take public transport.
Also flight disruptions could become a thing as the year progresses. AFL ruling out Covid hubs, but some talk of what to do with west coast teams.
Probably good the a league is finishing before the worst of this may hit. But will most likely impact finals.
