This is what we were all dreading. Spanked today and will lose on Thursday. What do we do next hub? Npl has to be prioritised i think.

Kings game suddenly now is a must win at all costs to avoid the need for the last hub which shouldnt have been an issue bc we had this one covered (supposedly)... problem is this side today wouldnt even beat Gully had we left them behind..tough decision ahead now (needlessly) as to what happens if we lose!
 
This has turned out to be a very expensive venture from the club. South is the only club not to have recieved the $100K participation money and we are funding the whole thing ourselves. If we manage to win it will be a positive outcome but I suspect Auckland will load up with A League players come finals. Runners up we will barely break even...

Wasnt it written in they couldnt use them bc no changes to roster allowed oustide the 23 for this specific reason, as applied to us to this point?
 
Our players looked ready to collapse 10 minutes into this game. We could not press the ball at all. I've never seen so many mistakes from a South team in a single game and this includes the Esteban years. The Soloman Kings are a good chance to give us the 5 goals back we gave them last week, realistically 4-0 would have been a fair score today.

I said i would have been happy to take a split (1 win 1 loss in this hub) but i cant see us beating a pumped Solomans team in a full stadium.

To be fair to Vanuatu they have weapons that can hurt us. We were having a hard time with them last time when they were down to 9 men and they somehow even scored.

The gap between playing these teams at full strength at the HOTM and playing them in a humid dump with half our team is enormous.
 
Where do you start to breakdown today’s awful performance. We could have played for another 5 hours and we would never have scored.

That goalkeeper Shalamanov-Trenkova is simply not up to it. Poor positioning and never came out to punch the ball from that corner. But also, there was also poor marking at the near post.

Even Yuki wasn’t great. We struggled to move the ball quickly and into attacking positions. The final ball kept letting us down. It really was not our day.

I get it that the heat and humidity are factors, but thats no excuse for today’s performance. Simply unacceptable.

If you think about it apart from the 5-0 against PNG we've struggled in pretty much all the other overseas games, and the teams we sent over in the earlier hubs were stronger than this.

The dilemma the club is going to have is do you get thumped in the opl in April or do you get thumped by Preston, Oakleigh etc? Because we wont be able to do both.

Club needs to do everything it can to have the Tahiti game played in Melbourne because if thats added to the next hub its likely more dropped points.

Cant afford to get pumped in front of our fans vs Preston and Oaks.

I agree. Im firmly in the npl needing to be prioritised. Would even go as far as resting Uchida, Tommy G and Cocks so they can play Thunder on Saturday. Whether its the conditions or the disjointed nature of the squad we showed today we arent up to it.

I would only consider sending a strong team to the last hub in Auckland because at least we know our players wont be dead 10 minutes into the game.
 
It comes back to my earlier point that we are 2-3 quality players short of balancing both competitions. We need another Centre Back, Attacking Midfielder/Winger, and Striker.

We need at least a draw on Thursday night to keep Solomon Kings in 3rd spot. First - put Charlston in goals and keep Mesorouni on the bench.

We’ll need big matches from Uchida, Cocks, Menelaou, Giannakopoulos, and Leech on Thursday night.
