A league round 7

Brazete looked the Roar’s most dangerous player out there, looks sharp in 1v1 but can improve he’s final product but he’s young.

The rest of the Roar players need to step up I wonder if they are playing for the coach? They need to show more determination out there especially in defending.

Melb City look solid they should be up there this season but I’m sure if they have what it takes to win the whole thing but their imports in Cohen and Kuen look classy players.

Hi All,
I have been lurking for a while before I decide to join.

Melbourne City are deceiving, most likely to finish 7th or 8th. So far they have played bottom ladder sides with losses to MVC and WSW who are likely contenders for a top 6 spot. Bizarre side with quite a few players being very young or very old. And Vidmar has shown little that he can change the game when under pressure.

As for Brisbane, their second half was much better than their first. Brazzero was a shining light for them. Indeed the players that were awful were the older players: Warland (AU is now a better side without him), O'Shea shanked two reasonable opportunities, Hingert was barely sighted. There was no hunger nor pride in the way they played. When Ange took over BR he terminated many careers and placed his faith in youth - at least they had the hunger to succeed.
BR are better off in biting the bullet and getting younger players n the starting line up and bringing in the older players as subs at the 70 minute mark.

That's the worst Roar team I've seen, the downward spiral continues.....
Seriously there are better npl teams that could easily take their place and do a much better job
Embarrassing to think what they were 10yrs ago
Just a badly run club that offers nothing to the A League

how long is zadkovic's contract? I'm losing faith quickly. If he was playing young prospects who were struggling at least i would think things will improve eventually....

this stat is crazy

xg: BR 1.47 MC 0.98

looks like a cumulation of low percentage shots from the roar though

Bris Roar need there license revoked, They have no ambition, poor crowds for a only state club and bring absolutely sweet fk all to the league. There one of the least watched club in the A-league for TV ratings. Replace them with Sth Melbourne or another NZ club plz. Or just make the league a 12 club comp without the leeches from QLD.

Nah, I like the Roar. The league is more enjoyable when they are doing well. Really hope they can turn things around. Jan transfer window right around the corner, so who knows maybe they find the missing pieces.

It's not the Roar's fault as much as it is the FA's fault. There has been a negligence from the ruling bodies to support the Roar and ensure they were in good hands.

I remember distinct conversations around a sale of the club to a what would have been a very good group, but the Roar ownership were insistent on a price and when the FA was asked to step in, they told the buyers that they needed to not only pay the asking price, but also give the FA some extra money. Obviously, the buyers walked away.

Ever since then, no one has really come in for the Roar and the owners don't really care. Everyone has just left it to be. FA was too busy with ensuring they built things for Arnie.

Another Kiwi team?!! We shouldn't even have the 2 that are already there - it's not the ANZ League. If they remove the Roar from the league we'll riot in Brissy!!

Roars last finals game they had at home a few seasons back (dolphin stadium) all they pulled crowd wise was 7k!! A home finals game and that's all they get. Time for the club to start thinking about playing in the NST. There a bad look on the A-League at least teams like WU are starting to really pull there weight with a stadium and crowds. Theres no nott at the end of the rope and when it runs out it runs out. Maybe get Arnie as coach.

The NZ derby was a great game, Nix only lost because of a own goal but it was a fantastic game all up. So glad it was on FTA. Def need more NZ teams with sold out crowds and good football being played.

Don't worry the FA have had their hands all over Brisbane for years. They were about to go broke years ago before Lyall Gorman who had already stopped the sale of CCMFC to the Bakrie family did the deal at a pre-season game at Knox Grammar in the seats in front of me.

Can someone explain how Adelaide are doing so well?
It looks like they are playing a different style of play, more focus on building up with a 3-2-2-3 in possession shape which is common with most teams at the top level and often not used in the aleague.
The mariners played this shape last season and won the league so maybe a trend they are trying to follow.

Nevertheless I also noticed they got a PSV influence with their new director of football from there so maybe its an directive from above also?

They have started well.

they could do better if they change their system so that jovanovic can be 2nd striker and yull cam. Their stats in the npl are crazy from those positions, a true 9 doesn't suit jovanovic and goodwin may not be as good as jovanovic despite suiting the system more

Maybe Jovanovic can play in the No.10 slots in behind Goodwin?

To be fair with Yull he’s been playing as a No.10 but on the right but I would like to see him play on Mauk’s role or as one of the two No.6s.

But otherwise the system is fine as it helps Adelaide create good chances from what I’ve seen so far from them, they did rely on the counter attack last season so it looks like they have improved this season.
