I feel like we can say that this is a pretty big deal for an Aussie. Being on his debut start and at just 21 years of age makes it even more impressive. In case there was any doubt before, as long as he's not injured, Toure is surely our starting striker for WC... and maybe for the next decade!

Mo toure on track to be our 3rd best ever striker. Viduka of course #1 still unless something truly remarkably happens, here is Aloisi, born 1996. He is playing regularly in the jupiler league by u19 and 1st choice in la liga by u26. Toure was 1st choice in denmark by u21 by contrast

Scot Mcdonald, born 1983, is probably our third best striker, at least at club level, and Mo is tracking ahead of him. He broke through as a u22 in Scotland and took till u24 to catch the eye of Celtic

Now ask the same qustion but take away the "or in the English Championship" ... Thats the problem.

Cup games count. I just don't count club friendlies or underage teams. Too many blow out games against crap opposition. That's how Arzani got 3 - but it was a cup game so counted. Technically he was the last Aussie Euro hat-trick before Toure.... v a Hungarian 4th division team haha.

Mark Viduka scored FOUR for Leeds at home in a victory over Liverpool. BBC Sport's report of the match on 4 November, 2000, says Australia striker Viduka "single-handedly destroyed Liverpool with a four-goal blast in an encounter of stunning drama" and "delivered a display of almost flawless marksmanship".

Will stick my neck out and say Miller is underrated. Yeah's he's no Spaniard on the ball but he is strong, football smart, and passionate. Martin Boyle is an example of a quick, skilful player whose lack of strength is his Achilles heel. For the Socceroos he is regularly shoulder- barged off the ball in the attacking third. Almost like he's targeted because the opp has done their homework. After watching the biff and attempted physical intimidation by the USA and Canada in our "friendlies" last year, we will need warriors (strength and passion) on the pitch. And he's a valuable target man in the box, and has made some clever assists. Two goals for Socceroos in 20 appearances at right back

Yeah I agree. Miller is clearly our best performed RB at club level too.

I'll be honest that I flip-and-flop a bit with my opinion on Miller. My biggest issues are his defensive lapses and offensive skill, when our system relies so heavily on our wing backs for width.

But I haven't seen a huge defensive lapse in awhile. And while he isn't the most skillful player he does have aggressive intent and seems to always contribute offensively.
