2025–26 A-League Women — regular season matches

Adelaide United ran out 1-0 winners over Western Sydney Wanderers to close out A-League Women matchday 16, with an own goal from Danika Matos in the 59th minute the only goal of the game. The result sees Adelaide United move to fourth on the ladder on 23 points with their seventh win of the season, whilst Western Sydney Wanderers remain second from bottom on 15 points, three points ahead of Sydney FC after losing their eighth game this season.

Sarah Hunter and Heather Hinz in the running for A-League Women player of the month for January, with Sydney FC one of three sides along with Wellington Phoenix and Brisbane Roar to have two players nominated this month for games played between matchdays 11 and 15, including catch-up fixtures between January 3rd and February 1st. Annalise Rasmussen and Leia Varley are included in the list for the last time after securing transfers overseas midseason.

Can Heather Hinz make the A-League All Stars even though she's American? Surely she can. It'll be either her or Teresa Morrissey who now that I think about it would get in my Matildas squad over Courtney Newbon.

I don't see why Heather Hinz can't make the A-League Women All Stars squad because it comprises the best players in the league regardless of nationality as voted by the fans, except if Teresa Morrissey gets into the playing list ahead of her.
 
Sofia Fante promoted to the Sydney FC extended squad for their A-League Women matchday 17 game against Brisbane Roar, with Kirsty Fenton serving a one-match suspension after receiving a red card last week, which Sydney FC opted not to appeal. Laura Pickett returns from injury for Melbourne Victory in the return leg of the Melbourne derby at Home of the Matildas on Sunday, as does Leah Davidson for Melbourne City. Central Coast Mariners return from the bye and face Wellington Phoenix on the road for the first time without Annalise Rasmussen, who secured a transfer overseas during their week off.
