Summer of Cricket thread

Saw some good Women's One Day action yesterday.

WA beat Tas by 5 wickets chasing 222 to win.

Darke was stranded on 99 as WA chased down the target. She and the other opener, ?, made a huge stand, but Darke could have been given out LBW first ball to Tassie's express bowler, Calie Wilson. The WA openers played quality shots all around the wicket, mainly on the ground.

Wilson to the naked eye, looks to be the quickest Aus bowler after Darcey Brown. She is quite small and of South Asian origins. She gets the ball skidding off the pitch at rapid pace. Apparently, she developed in South Aus.

Silver-Holmes also has raw pace, her Tassie opening bowling partner. Both have rocket arms in the field too, but in general, Tassie's fielding was poor at times. The Tas spinners got a few wickets. WA batted well, but with a fair bit of luck.

Talking to other Crick Tas Members, and the hospitality staff, all are enjoying the peace and serenity after the rowdiness and all the drunks frequenting men's BBL.

U guys excited about the t20 world cup? I think australia takes t20 less seriously than other countries

I am for two reasons, our great international record and our kit. Leaves the ODI one for dead in style. Tho aint happy the iconic Southern Cross no longer adorns any of our cricket kits.

Not really especially given that we're coming off the back of wall-to-wall T20 cricket with the Big Bash League and straight into the Pakistan series, in addition to the fact that the tournament coincides with the upcoming Winter Olympics and the Matildas at a home Women's Asian Cup.

Aidan O'Connor: All Rounder.

Wickets: 33
Av: 9.8
Best: 7/11
Runs: 532
Av: 38
H.S: 202

Dont quote this mate as they are wrong. I reposted the correct stats. Still good.

I enjoy keeping up to date with our nations best emerging cricketers as it keeps my mind young.

You are becoming an expert on Tas cricket, Richie!
Some more imfo for you.

The above six boys have been identified by TCA as the best Pathway graduating cricketers for the coming season. To my knowledge , Aidan O'Connor and Louis Smith were '24/25 ET recipients.

Sorry to say, only two stand outs among this six. Other than this pair, all show good white ball stats and ordinary red ball, most likely over the dropping of the Under 17 red ball comp, a pathway into two day club cricket.

Like some gen why the U17 comp is no longer part of TC pathways.

CA is sneakingly axing its Second X1 matches as part of its cost cutting. This is a bit of a kick in the guts for talented kids as it is the only comp that provides a direct step into first class cricket.

An all rounder I seem to have missed earlier. Stats similar to O'Connor. His strongest suit is batting where as O'C's is bowling.

Charlie Anderson is my heir to the Josh Hazlewood specialist seam role in our future attack. I see a lot of a young Glenn McGrath in his action, the way he delivers close to the stumps then moves the ball away off the seam. He is not yet as smothering in his line and length as McGrath or Hazlewood but at 20 is still a work in progress. Anderson is similar in appearance to a fledgling Pigeon too, tho he has more meat on his bones.

Tell me what you guys think. Anderson plays for Northern Districts.

I'm harking back to my childhood here but 34 years on, the 1992-1994 canary yellow shirt with the green lightning bolts on them remains the greatest Australian cricket shirt ever.

My fave is 2003, prefer the gold to the yellow plus the normal Southern Cross. 2021 is stylish too.
Liked 2012 T20 kit best. There was also a black and actual gold kit too used for a couple of seasons. Think its 2014.

Liked L and R kits too. Todays kit is vomit material, no style or class.
