Riots in Belfast as protests erupt.

Aside from this stabbing incident Protestants and Catholics have been joining together to protest against immigration for a while now in Belfast....

A raw symptom of elite failure overriding deep historical hatreds.

The sectarian divide forged in the Troubles, with thousands dead remains real of course but issues like housing shortages are the sharpest knife in the back for working-class Belfast communities Protestant and Catholic alike and the main reason old enemies have been protesting together.

In fact the whole of Ireland North and South is a powder keg right now....

Decades of policy prioritising migration volume over integration + housing failure = unconsented transformation in tight-knit communities.

Working class people see streets, schools, and estates changing fast while elite politicians and media label their concerns as "far-right" or "racist."

Other than the sectarian divide the rest sounds like here in Australia.

I have a lot of relatives in Ireland and I hear about their frustration.

My cousin's daughter has moved into a studio flat in Dublin and it's costing her €1600 per month or something ridiculous like that!

That's about A$2500....

She's a graduate with a decent income but the housing crisis and rents are out of control and it's causing massive resentment.

What are the Irish complaining about - they seem to have invaded every country on earth ;)

What are the Irish complaining about -

Housing, or lack of housing mostly....

But the rapid demographic change without matching infrastructure seems to be a factor too...

Pressure on health/hospitals, education, transport and all these other public services are under huge strain....

Growing pains really....

pretty much the norm across most western countries today.

Some great news …. Sort of

Hint; apparently climatologists ‘lied’

On the other hand, we have this alarming piece of news.

A 30-year-old man from Sudan appeared in a Belfast court Wednesday charged with attempted murder over a stabbing attack that left a man seriously injured and triggered anti-immigrant violence in several parts of Northern Ireland.

Hadi Alodid, 30, was ordered held in jail after an appearance by video in Belfast Magistrates’ Court, where a detective said he blinded Stephen Ogilvie in the left eye during the knife attack.

He was also charged with possessing a knife and threatening to kill a radiographer while being treated for a hand injury after the assault.
