World news and politics.

I didn't realise Ali Khamanei was seen as a Shia religious leader outside of Iran. It's kind of like killing the Pope - if the Pope was also an oppressive dictator.

I know the rhetoric is all about giving the Iranian people a chance to rise up and retake the Country. But does anyone seriously think Trump or Netanyahu give two shits about Iranians. It's a ludicrous thought.

North Korea actually has a nuclear bomb. Why are they not there?

I do, but I'm not a loony greeny

I'd say for the Israeli's, it's a deep-seated belief that by getting rid of the 'mad mullah's' aka the Iranian regime clerics, who fund and supply terrorist proxies like Hamas and Hez'bollah to target Israel’s Jews, they might keep their citizens safer.....

For the Trump led US it's more about eventually controlling, or more likely, trying to convince whoever is governing Iran to side with them over the oil flow out of Iran, which to be fair, isn't much different to what other super powers have done throughout history, in different circumstances of course.

China will likely invade Taiwan one day in order to control the global supply of semiconductors, which are crucial to China's industrial and technological development.

This is how superpowers become superpowers and how they maintain their positions as superpowers.....

People all over the world will rightly protest but unfortunately the reality is the big geopoltical players are just laughing at them....

In truth you wouldn't know what my political views are.

This kind of language is what's wrong with political commetary and discussion atm imo.

It's straight to labels and leaves no room to discuss the issues.

It's never as simple as right/left in my experience. There's a whole nuance there with most peoples views on different political topics.

Yes agree.

For the US - I think it's also politically convenient when they are struggling politically domestically atm. Look over here.

My issue is I don't think theres a lot of thought that has gone into the what next.

History shows that when you try to force this change, when the objectives are broad and unclearly defined, when the government has been stable (in Irans brutal way) and when you aren't committed to long term stabilisation efforts (assuming this to be true) then it doesn't often work. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya are examples of this.

There's going to be a power vacuum and that's likely to get filled by the same regime or it's throwing a dart. Who knows what happens.

My concern is what this means for Australia. What happens to rules based order. China just got a big boost in their aspirations for Taiwan. Where does this all lead? We're sitting on a lot of attractive resources here.

We probably need to start re-thinking how we defend ourselves.

Bibi doesn’t even care about the safety of Jews let alone Iranians.

He cares about one thing - holding power.

I said what I was not what you were, typical greeny

Saw a great point, all the programs that provided for things like satellite access for iranians, persian language radio stations etc, and a swathe of other special programs were cut by theTrump administration, DOGE and that Keri Lake fuckhead.

Making any regime change or possibility of the people being to communicate impossible.

He said they should take over their government. Maybe he thinks they have fox news :ROFLMAO:

There we have it folks. This is why the world is about to be at war:

President Trump told Axios on Thursday that Israeli President Isaac Herzog must pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu "today" — calling Herzog "a disgrace" for failing to act over the last year.

  • "Every day I talk to Bibi about the war. I want him to focus on the war and not on the f*cking court case. I want the only pressure on Bibi to be the fighting against Iran," Trump said in a phone interview.
