I'm not defending the Ayatollah here. It just is always the case that when people make a point, they say, "according to the western world". So if the western world says it, then we must abide by it and take it as true? The US had Nelson Mandela listed as a terrorist until 2008.I don't think this is a western only aspect.
Only a few despots around the world have supported the Iranian regime. Like Venezuela there are disaporas around the world saying this is a chance to free themselves from those leaders. Those in Iran are celebrating this too and had been calling for outside help. Other Gulf states are fed up too.
Diplomacy has been tried and laughed off and while we may not think bombing is the way, there are very few options remaining
Let's not forget, the US have bombed Iran in the past to install their own guy, and that didn't work out for them. When we talk about the US bombing a country, they are not doing so because they care about the people there, they are doing it because it only serves their interest. We've become so apathetic to history that we just ignore it and only focus on the now. A lot of the instability around the world is because of the US, and now they have Israel doing their bidding. Netanyahu has been saying Iran is weeks away from Nuclear weapons for the last 30 years. Israel refuses to submit it's nuclear programme though for scrutiny. It also has the Samson Option. You can't have that option if you don't have the weaponry for it.
So if the "western world" says something, forgive me if I take it with a pinch of salt.
