World news and politics.

Family voting has been a concern in The UK, The Netherlands and Sweden. Notice a pattern? It's probably nothing though.

Gorton and Denton and the previous constituency name before it was re-organised had been a Labour stronghold forever. It’s an extremely multicultural constituency with also a lot of students and young urban professionals in the more gentrified parts.

For Labour to finish 3rd behind the Greens and Reform is a horrendously bad result for the party.

Interestingly the Labour Party chairwoman Anna Turley was complaining on the radio that the Green's campaign was not about things like cost of living, housing or even environmental issues.

It entirely centred around Gaza....

The Greens even put out campaign leaflets in Urdu and Arabic. But none in English.

One high profile political commentator, who normally has a more Labour orientated outlook, on Times Radio called it 'the sectarian' by-election.

The Greens really got their strategy bang on the nail for this one.

Reform finished second but their target voters, the white working class are a minority generally in these parts.

Also if the.machinations of this particular by-election were played out across the entire UK at the next General Election, then it would be between the Greens and Reform.

Latest polling suggest Reform UK will win but they are only polling at around the 30-34% mark.

This may give them a slim majority but it's more likely they will need support from another party.

We could well see a Reform UK/Conservative Party British Government with the Tories very much the junior partner in the coalition.

Or perhaps a Green Party/Labour British Government with Labour as the junior party....

This is quite an unbelievable time in British politics.

I did see something about on a British news channel, Crazy stuff.

There's a lot of first generation Pakistani, Afgani and other immigrant women in England who dont speak or read any English at all. Some have very little in the way of education either and for their husbands to 'chaperone' them into the polling booth to vote at an election, would be seen as normal, despite it being electorally illegal.

It's a cultural thing that they've brought from their own countries so the electorial commission and authorities in the UK would normally just turn a blind eye.

If a losing political party brought this to the attention of the authorities or police, of course they'd be obliged to investigate but it's likely impossible to prove.

They'd need witnesses and election officials to have a case.

I doubt the authorities would touch it in this day and age....

FIFA peace prize going well.
Didn't you say action against the Mullahs would be necessary to ensure their removal a few weeks ago? Albeit a rough way to go. Is the timing wrong now as the protests gave stopped?

I made no comments about Iran. It's not something I'm across.

So now it turns out that the new Greens MP who won the by-election for Gorton and Denton in the UK, who lambasted the wealthy, including private landlords who pray on rental tenants has a £1.2m property portfolio....🤣

At least we know Conservatives are trying to rip you off. These types prey on the vulnerable then shrug their shoulders when nothing works.
