It was a dive. I've watched it again and again and the Japanese player shifts his weight and does a tumble despite Cahill diving in. The simulation forward begins before Cahill was even close.

Yeah in var days maybe japan is a nail biter and all locked up late in the contest which could go either way but we beat croatia
