Ha cheers, yes I have a few people I know in Mexico, also there is a group of us from different parts of the world meeting. CDMX is usually relatively free from cartel trouble. Fingers crossed it remains like that,

One of the reasons I decided not to go to this edition.

In the past you could use FIFAs resale platform to pick up tickets where tickets are capped at face value. We were getting tickets on the day in Qatar but it's not easy. You have to be on your laptop or phone for hours but they do become available because people that can't unload them across other platforms try and cut their losses as the starting time gets closer.

You can still get them through the resale platform at this edition but the ticket owner can put any price they want on them so it could get exxy.

I've gotten tickets before on FB through Australian fan groups that are travelling. The rules are pretty clear on some pages that it's face value only but there are a million scammers and pieces of shit there that will DM you ridiculous prices.

I have seen tickets for sale outside the satdiums at every cup I've been to but you're taking a risk turning up on the day because nothing's guaranteed. You'll also see blokes with signs saying 'tickets wanted' so that's an option.

Good luck.

Sorry for the dumb question, but other platforms are legally re-selling tickets this world cup?

Yes but I've never bought anything from those platforms. Caveat emptor is you do though.

FIFA uncapping the prices is their 'rationale' for destroying the scalpers and secondary markets by letting fans sell their tickets at whatever price they want.

In reality they've become the biggest scalpers on the planet. (By pocketing 15% off the buyer plus the seller. 30% every time a ticket changes hands.)

Vivago keep away too many shonksters man
Yeah and double the price. Im willing to pay 1k to see Mexico at Azteca but that’s it. But people can fuck pff with anything else.

I don't know exactly how it is meant to work, but my understanding is that tickets will only be received via a FIFA tickets app, which hasn't been released yet. I think I read that this was meant to stop tickets being sold via scalpers, and could only be onsold via the FIFA extortion racket (aka the official FIFA reselling site). Having said that though, I assume there will be a mechanism to transfer tickets from one person to another, I hope so as I received two tickets for each group game in the ballot and one ticket for each game is for my mate who I am travelling with. I guess this means that you can still buy via someone else as long as you trust them to transfer the ticket to you after you have paid them.
