World cup 2026 Draw

Delayed draw is on sbs at 1:00 but I'm gonna try to record it so I can watch when I wake up

Probably - but a 'group of death' say France, Australia, Tunisia, Italy would be ideal. Then make sure we keep it tight against France and hope to get through as a best 3rd. Next round Canada who topped an easy group and then we are away.

TBH if ( a big if) Poppa picks the best and younger players, primes them physically and gets away from his boring tactics and goes attacking 4-4-1-1 this cohort can cause havoc against ageing stars.

We could only hope, Ange took the 2014 squad in the last minute after Holger got sacked & but we lost every game, but what a ride we went on against Holland & Chile, though Spain smashed us. It was exciting stuff, still remember sliding across the floor when Cahill scored the disallowed goal against Chile & my kids looking on with amusement of their then 50 year old crazy father.
Van Marwijk had us in 2018 & played very defensively & we lost narrowly to France, drew with Denmark & beaten by Peru, was so exciting even though I was there in Russia.

Depends what charter Poppa is given, but love to see him play our best youngsters & go for it.

If we play our best players, if they are all fit and if they are picked, this cohort can also be quite attacking. If we play like we have recently with the squad we have played recently with a bad draw we don't make the 32. If we play the right players with the right tactics for the opponent (yes they do change Poppa) then this team cohort can go deeper than any before them and can win the 2027 Asian Cup away.

I actually did not like Ange's World Cup. I felt he sacrificed any chance we had in the biggest tournament in the world to prepare for the Asian Cup - basically he has admitted as much. That I found outrageous. Now we have the opposite, we have a cohort that, if selected, can be one of the more exciting teams to follow and one that, if we play the right tactics, can make some aging stars look silly on the way to our best ever result.

While many of the current starting XI and squad should be included the midfield balance and the attacking choices need tweaking. Poppa has picked the best 4 keepers and allowing for injury returns I think he can be assured of setting the right defence. So the basis is there. Bos while an attacking threat should not be an automatic starter (at least as LWB). Against Mohamed Salah Egypt, Lamine Yamal Spain,
Bukayo Saka England, Michael Olise France, Raphinha Brazil we need a more defensive LWB - Bos may be used as a LW. Against mid-tier opposition and the Pot 4 lesser teams without an elite RW he is an automatic starter and a serious weapon.

However, our midfield choices have been all over the place and as a result we look lost and rarely attack except through the wings or a long ball. This is the main area that needs work. Pick the right players and play them and then we may have a cohesive team. Teague, Arzani, Okon, Hrustic, Caceres and Brattan are not the answer and to be honest never were and we have wasted time and cohesion time on them.

While Toure and Irankunda have played well against lesser teams I wonder how well they could perform with a proper and cohesive midfield.

Did I miss something here? Is the Draw not available to watch live on FTA in Australia? Where is it being shown?

Last time the draw was quicker than usual. I expect this time it'll be back to ages of cultural performances and speeches meaning the draw will start an hour into the show.

I don't know if I can transition from cheering for the socceroos to cheering for planet earth

if they call the team the eartharoos I might be interested...
