West Germany won the World Cup in 1954 so the record still holds and we can punt that whoever assumes the captaincy for the Socceroos come July 19th will be lifting the trophy along with Tony Popovic.

I don’t know how to post screen shots but the new ratings are in, and the Socceroos jumped a place to 23rd while Turkey went down to 25th.

West Germany’s records were transferred to Germany itself. The bigger nation always gets to take the record (e.g. Russia also has records from the Soviet Union even though Ukraine are a stronger team, while Serbia has Yugoslavia’s records despite Croatia being far stronger).
