World Cup 2026 Australia thread

There were some comments out of US about O'Neill. He had his ankle stepped on. He also hurt his knee which was locking up on the half turn and stopped him continuing. That sounds like a ligament issue to me. I don't know enough to know which ligament based on the mechanics they described.

I'm not happy O'Neill is injured but it does open up a position I think may benefit team. Would love to see Robertson or Balard in CM.

Some of these camp inclusions are worry but we had about 8 in Abu Dhabi who just turned up for training and departed so hopefully some of these guys aren't seriously being included.

“There are a lot of players playing in Europe regularly that haven’t even had a chance. But I understand that because the A-League is in our eyes, you only get things on an app in terms of what happens in Europe. You don’t watch those games, but you watch these ones.

“So we obviously get excited when we see someone doing well in the A-League and we think that the jump from the A-League to the Socceroos is quite an easy one"

Says this but has Borello brought over :ROFLMAO:

Am surprised Borrello makes the top 50 on form, Matthews is fair enough, the age profile and recent injury history of some of others though. What's the point unless they are good odds to make it, Popa is missing a trick.
Sometimes its nice to let your old warriors and those that made some contribution to qualifying a nod to let them know their services were appreciated. You can have a preliminary squad of up to 55 players before cutting it back to 26 on June 1.

Is it worth taking up a kid’s spot though?

If we're honest a lot of these players have featured regularly enough to warrant an invite for the mass extended squad. At the same time is clear that Caceres isn't favoured from the last few windows.

Every player will be glad to come and try out but I also thing some know or even question why they should even bother.

A free trip to Florida to be around mates and then maybe and injury or two and it can happen quickly that they're in.
