Stacey Papadopoulos in the Greece squad!

Serbia got destroyed by Italy 6–0 at home. Croatia beat Gibraltar 1–0. Wales smashed Albania 4–0 at home.

While the women’s game is developing there (partly due to Aussie diaspora success) those results show that there’s a LONG way to go for the former Yugoslav countries in the women’s game. Croatia have a top men’s side yet are struggling to beat Gibraltar in the women’s? Slovenia have improved the most due to the less social conservatism in Slovenian society but they also got smashed (5–0 by Norway).

Tyla-Jay Vlajnic and Vesna Milivojevic not named in the Serbia playing list altogether, nor are Bianca Gittany and Laura Hughes for Croatia and Wales respectively.

Lovely news that she’s on board with the Tillies!!! I wonder if she’s eyeing an overseas move as well to push her way into the squad. Do we think Tijan is one for the future?

It’s a loss for Croatia who don’t call her up much. Croatia are still pretty shit in the women’s game. If she does switch she can still switch back if she never plays for us.

Tijan McKenna is definitely one to watch for the future but the problem is that the Matildas have too much depth defensively including at her primary position of centre back so she may only end up getting one cap for us or may never play altogether because the selection policy is prioritising more experienced players as opposed to fringe players.
