Japan look good but we have the attacking players-Kerr,Foord and Fowler who can score. It is our defence which is a concern.
Sam Kerr, Caitlin Foord and Mary Fowler are capable of finding the back of the net but not when they're adopting a 'shoot on sight' mentality and fluffing chances.

Kerr and Foord have stats to back up their reputations, however, those stats have also been built against majority weaker opposition. It's what separates them from the big players. They really need to turn up in games like this. The chances they've had should have really been more threatening

Evidently were more at home when we play a tough attacking team as they also respect our strengths and don't run around like headless chicken opponents that confuse our lines. It's a much more methodical type or game.

You see it in the men's too. Bahrain will be running around erratically but a higher level will calming move back and allow us some time and space.

I feel sorry for Montemurro. The last 3 years of refusal to blood and develop more players, means we also haven't developed a more fluid and potent system.

He has essentially had to use what is there, rather than adjust. Not an ideal situation.

I missed the first 25ish minutes putting the kids down. What I saw Japan are tough, technical and have clever movement. But we're holding our own much better than I thought. We're also creating chances so we can get back in this.

We should have at least 1 by now. Have to take your chances if you want to win against the best.

Japan are there for the taking but so far, the Matilda’s aren’t taking it!
Matildas only had one shot on target from five shots but Japan managed to score despite only having two shots on target from six.
