Women's Asian Cup match discussion thread

g'day ladies and lads . still broken after last night . 3 hours on the f3 car park coming from gosford .
an hour getting out of the car park .
to be treated to long balls and the imagination of a fence post from melbourne media darling ,joe moron.
and now having a 1000 dollars worth of tickets feels like a 4th placed ticket in the melbourne cup
mind you great effort dealing with that traffic !
I know it well.
Welcome !

sorry to say but I always feel underwhelmed watching.
The countless simple errors, pass's to no mans land, to the opponent, slow pace - koreans looking sharper smarter shows up where the squad is at.
IF it wasn't for some of the old stagers could have been alot worse.
Its so hyped up about the tillies which is great but welcome to our Roo world living in hope.
Korea, their couple of subs made impacts let alone the starting line up.
Won so many 2nd balls, showed more skill and combos, they turned us around going forward with pace.
Don't get me started on Ellie - what a wasteful outside player.
Fowler has come back from injury, if your selected your considered fit to play, not involved enough, timid.
Foord wasteful.
I expect others will say otherwise considering the ongoing hype for so long you sure expect more than what was dished out.
Definitely agree that the Matildas were not clinical enough and failed to fire throughout our last group stage match against South Korea, giving them too much space and not closing down the forward line which allowed them to pounce and capitalise on the chances we gave away. We can't afford to make the same mistakes in the quarterfinal against either China or North Korea on Friday if we want a chance of direct qualification for the Women's World Cup.

not being clinical is the end of the process (as long as on target) the problem is dictating midfield where the exposure occured but when you can't keep ball enough and error under pressure the gaps appear/holes are there for the taking when your opponents are moving forward your back peddling as we were many times - thats not giving chances away thats being taken like any better team you play.
Hope we turn it around for the next thats for sure.

When Cooney Cross came on that improved, but before that we were woeful.

yep, trouble was he waited till the 84min - hence dominatiing closing stages of the game though Korea knew to sit deep and take the counter when possible.
Think he should have freshened up midfield by the 60th or abouts who knows what may have ocurred.

Exactly, I was at game & expected at 60th min for changes, but nothing, I was screaming for change, we just let them dominate us in midfield in 2nd half.

The Korean girls with quick interplay by passed our midfield and then outpaced our CB.We need Cooney-Cross to start as our midfield looks very average without her presence.
Kerr took her goal well but otherwise lacking sharpness.Foord had a mixed game and is not in top form .People are fretting that the Matildas have a tougher QF match but they had such easy games against Philippines and Iran that they need to have another test to see if they have what it takes to improve.

Significantly qucker, more accurate passing as well as rotational interplay as well. We looked flat and pedestrian in comparison.

Ellie is usually considered the best right back in the world.

Welcome to the insane world of a football supporter.🤣🤣🤣

By whom? She has her moments but not a thinker.
By everyone who watches women’s football. She just gets quite overlooked by awards like the Ballon d’Or which consistently favour two specific Catalan Barcelona players (Aitana Bonmatí and Alèxia Putellas) anyway (since they’re voted by general football journos, not necessarily women’s football ones).

She currently plays for Chelsea and previously played for Lyon. Chelsea were until this season long crowned the best team in England until they shat the bed this season. Lyon dominate France and were the best team in the world until Barça came along in the 2020s.
