I think he’d be tied even before playing the friendly, yes. I might have this a bit wrong, but my understanding is you can only change your allegiance with FIFA once (provided you meet the competitive caps requirements, etc)

I don’t know the specifics of Beard. Did he play for someone else before juniors for Australia?

Currently his FIFA status is with Italy - this isn’t set until you first play international football at any age. I may be wrong here, but my understanding is that you can only change your allegiance once after it’s set.

As we can see, Tyra Bagiante has just officially switched back from Tonga to Australia this month (after playing youth football for Tonga). Which is interesting because she was selected for Young Matilda’s in October last year….

But, using my understanding of it (which I’m trying to verify), she would no longer be able to go back to Tonga.
