Winter Olympics

Pretty dull first day line up. Not like the summer games that tends to use the weekend to hit the ground running. Lots of events to come but a tentative Saturday.

Quite a successful night for Sweden unsurprisingly. Up 4–1 over Italy in the women's ice hockey, beat Italy 9–4 in mixed doubles curling, plus some other stuff in the snow events. Standard for an Arctic country of course.
I like clicking on the athlete profiles and hearing them pronounce their name. There are also links to the socials. Not that I really care but the opportunity to learn more is there. This Jutta Leerdam has 5m on insta but can back it up with her skating.

Slim chance for Australia in snowboarding yet. His first run was a crash out but it looks like only the top 2 scores are counted. The leaders have had 2 good runs already so they're waiting for be caught. 2 mediocre runs totally stuffs the average.

Yeah I too like to hear how they say their name, even if I know how it would sound. I try to pronounce people's names as they should sound, hence my preference for saying Shvartzer (/ˈʃvaʁt͡sɐ/) instead of Shwortser (/ˈʃwɔːrtsər/) for Mark Schwarzer, as that is how you would say it in German.

Got the women’s moguls freestyle skiing on! AUSSIE, AUSSIE, AUSSIE!!!

Germany with a gold 3 days in a row but just got so many classes to teach that I can't use the free train travel. Got time tomorrow so need a gold today. Could've raked up massive travel value for a measly 20€.

Nothing for Australia in women's moguls. Bloody hell. Rank well and do well in early rounds but we've been pipped in a number of events.

1 more chance for a sodding Germany Gold tonight otherwise no free travel tomorrow.

3 Australians in the final 8 for the men's moguls final. One more run by the looks in final 2. The wiki says there's a final 3 but I don't think that's accurate.

Wow! He was very subdued after his run but it seems his turn score was highly scored. The Canadian appeared way better but overall the judges have grading the Aussie technique.

Just watched it back. It was equal total scores but Australia had a higher turn score. Mental!

Silver in men's Snowboard half pipe. Japan with a massive score to win gold with Australia close behind.

Australian sporting HISTORY was just made 🇦🇺

It would have been so easy for Jakara Anthony to get lost in the heartbreak of falling short of a shot at gold earlier in the week.

But instead, she bounced back in the BEST way possible to become Australia's first-ever Winter Olympics dual gold medallist 🥇🥇

That wasn't the only history to be made by Anthony's emotional win.
