If you we're the coach what do you want to see in the next window.

For me:
  • 6 points
  • A back 4 (4-5-1/4-3-3)
  • An extra centre midfielder
  • Players played in their preferred position
  • Team selection: Add in Luongo, Toure, Irankunda, Iredale, Silvera, Farrell, Strain
  • Robertson to make up his mind and play
  • Balard to get minutes

1 forward pass for every 2 or 3 backwards or sideways ones would be at least a start :P

The inverted wingers to be sacrificed and likes of McGree used as a second forward.

An extra in midfield, a playmaker, ideally Nisbet, Robertson or even Luongo.

An attacking RWB option.

4-2-3-1 with Luongo next to O'Neill and actual wingers with pace. Yengi up top.

Let's change the mindset first off we scored and then back off instead of killing the game. Poppa needs to have plan B not reactive enough. Sought out the goal keeping situation who's number 1. Add Balard , Nisbet Robertson to that midfield it's instantly better. Duke should never start.Jordy Bos should be starting every game.

I want to see this:

----------------------Gauci------------------------
---Geria---Souttar---Burgess---Bos----
--------------Luongo---Balard-----------------
---Irankunda---McGree---Goodwin----
‐‐‐--------------------Yengi------------------------

Sub:
* Irvine impact sub
* Toure impact sub

Depth:
GK: Ryan
RB: Strain
CB: Rowles, Triantis
LB: Farrell
CM: Irvine, O'Neill, Robertson*
CAM: Nisbet, Hrustic
RF: Vellupillay
LF: Silvera
CF: Toure, Iredale

Pretty much. Fact is we won't see it under Popovic and it hurts so much. It's the same old story of managers choosing players for their system and it doesn't work but they don't really have a plan for our better players either.

Just mental Balard wasn't allowed to come on and control the game. You watch what they do on the weekend and we've got to get some of that in the national team.

Got to keep realising their goals were some freakish stuff but ironic it all went downhill when Irvine and Miller came off.

Geria was a bit wasteful but looked much better and naturally positioned than Miller.

I just want to see Metcalfe at RWB and then Balard and Luongo because a roaming Metcalfe will sit in midfield and the other two will provide triangles for passing. Add McGree on the 10 and have Goodwin roaming with Yengi and it should look better.

The second Yengi chance was exactly how we need to play. I fear we still get too isolated up top so more suffocating of the opponent is important.

All I want for Christmas is for the Socceroos to play an attacking proactive style of football centred around playing our best players in their natural positions at club level.

Yes the reality is the manager is never going to get a lot of time with the whole group. So why not acknowledge this fact and allow an easier transition into their work with the NT.

This just won't happen with Popovic. He was unemployed for a reason and is the antithesis of everything that currently holds us back as a footballing nation.

You're right we won't.

That said, even in Poppa's system there is scope for a better team.

---------------Luongo---Irvine-----------------

Assumptions:
* Formation = 5-2-3
* Irvine will start

We need a midfielder who can pass forward under a press so I want to see Luongo.

We need a better right side offensively, Miller just isn't any kind of solution. Metcalfe offers a midfielders skill on the ball and will take some pressure off the CM's. I'd also be happy with Strain.

We need a CF who does more than press.

Vellupillay isn't our best right sided forward but fits the system the best in terms of supporting Geria and the RWB.

I like the idea of Irankunda subbing on and running at tired Asian defences, it could be devastating.

Then some striker bench options in Toure and Iredale.

Sub:
* Irankunda impact sub
* Toure/Iredale impact sub
* Balard if we need to defensive coverage

Depth:
GK: Ryan
RWB: Strain
CB: Rowles, Triantis
LWB: Farrell
CM: Balard, O'Neill, Robertson*
CAM: Nisbet, Hrustic, McGree
RF: Irankunda
LF: Silvera
CF: Toure, Iredale

If we're going to persist with a back 5 then Bos starts one side and Irankunda or some attacking winger on the other.

Japan use Doan and Mitoma. Very well rounded players who can win a tackle also.

Issue is our front 3 last night were often overcrowded by the opponent but for those one of two good breaks. Behich and Miller offered little in cutting on moving around. Irvine and Caceres were too deep and slow.

No more inverted wing backs shit. Go back to orthodox formations cos most of the players just aren’t used to it/or good enough.

Irankunda back as impact sub at least. No more Behich, Miller.

A convincing win of 2+ goals would be good for team/supporter morale

what do I want to see in prep for next March 1st game ?
Man can/could Poppa reach out for some insight about looking at himself what he did over the 12/13/14 seasons for he found something back then.

4 points is my minimal expectation but really need 6.Also for Balard to be given a go.

Turns out Marin Jakoliš is not eligible for the Socceroos. Neither his parents nor grandparents were born in Australia, which means Jakoliš must live in the country for five continuous years to satisfy FIFA’s eligibility requirements.

I guess I see the reason why Miller is disliked, but there is a risk/reward balance that we need in the team. He provides far more energy than Behich on the other side. He also gets further up the pitch and has contributed with more crosses (and a goal). He has grown into the position as far as I'm concerned. The investment is starting to pay dividends.
