Vroom Vroom - the motoring thread

yep built to last alright.......talking german made back then only - now made in so many countries.
As a young fella I fortunate having worked my arse off and saved I ventured into the 3series like below
For a 4cyc back then and the chassis handling it went like a cut snake, cornering handling was epic and build quality never a prob.
It gave me the thirst I traded it on a 6cyc like below
Now that FLEW with that brilliant inline 6cyc.
Luved them both like mad.

Yeah my brother in law has a red 323i fully restored years ago that he never drives. Beautiful cars.

Older cars are temperamental, they aren’t as reliable, they are always slower than a comparable modern car,
It's always the niggly things that lead you to upgrade from a older ( or any car ). I always say if you do buy one then spend about 5 grand minimum of replacing things even they don't need to be.

ha min $5k and the rest unless you've paid high end for a fully restored speciman.
Those who have money to burn can do so, Mrs LFC would not talk to me for a long time (maybe good maybe not haha) buying ol skool as football us life prefers.
I agree they are brilliant but you got to be cashed up.
I have 2 unused cars that sit and sit least not old like yesteryear ones - one is 24yrs old now but its in top shape trouble is parts now hard to get if the worst happenned and the is just a baby 9yrs old but last of and already hard to find bits.

the car buffs here in GG seem pretty scarce ???...so see IF I can fire them up :)
Now I know all about alot of the ol skool brought up here in posts in the passed, hate to say at my age I even worked on alot of the british branded marques here for they eneded up in workshops alot haha but still luv them.
I've been a car admirer was going to car/bike/speedway races since a kid due to the ol blokes business links so I suppose the bug stuck despite being a mad surfer/beach goer (figure that out polar opposites) I also ended up making a living to this day in the car game originally a mechanic/brake/suspension/specialist to being a parts Importer/Exporter so yer cars are another passion.

I'm a old Aussie Falcon side of the fence due to the inconic Bathurst days of old, race on Sunday buy on Monday compared to the modern times.
I have come to wish I bought a Holden or 2 nowadays.
I have 2 later day modern Falcons that are hardly used for years.
The last of the disliked AU Falcon but these were their best last throw of the dice so had to have one.
Tickford TS50 2002 - in flagship colour Blueprint, 5.6 stroked V8 and sounds the bomb, pretty much stock still.
Rear IRS it handles superb - even against the late model stuff still can hold its won ok.
Coming to 23yrs old with just 130thou k's in mint condition.
I actually did the 50th Ford Anni parade lap with one of my young sons back in 2010, my Blue beast you'll see down conrod at the 5.15/6min and 5.23 mark with Aussie flag flying.

I've been to Bathurst due to business but pleasure over 25/30 times.

I had to get one of the last Falcons before closure of the company here so without knowing what it would be in detail put my deposit down for the last Falcon FGX Sprint 5.0l Supercharged and had to stick shift manual 6speed.
Its actually coming to its 9th bday on Sept 23, built delivered 2016 1 of 750 only.
Only got 30thou k's so it has benn driven not hidden.
Its a tyre frier, goes like a cut snake, way over powered for the crappy rear end but its the last so I'm pretty attached to it.
Got it in Siloutte Black.
Its a beast.

I saw a cream coloured Jaguar XJ6 with a red leather interior and the proper walnut dash the other day. It must have been circa 1973ish...

Think it was the XJ6 4.2 De Luxe. One level up from the base model but still a fairly meaty piece of machinery.

Absolutely immaculate too. Looked like the owner was properly into it.

Alot of Jag owners actually swapped out the overly heavy 4.2 standard engine with a 350 Chev small block. Slotted right in.

For some reason I always like Mercedes 450SEL. 6.9 litre V8. Heh. I'd feel like a old school despot driving one of these. lol.

First car I drove on my P's - was fucking fun. Lived on a dirt road on a farm, with this kink that had a blind crest right in the middle of it. Because of the heavy rear, was always a fun little rally slide past there

My dad had an XJ Sovereign from early/mid-80s. I mean I think he still has it, and bought a spare for spare parts, but I think both are in the shed/garage at the moment still. Also was a great car to drive. Dad loved his old European stuff.

White/cream, with the faux/walnut interior (but not on the dash - just the trim in the middle, etc)

my ol mans english boss was a Jag devotee naturally, great nicely appointed cars of the day but such POS the constant oil leaks they suffered - door handles letting go etc...but class cars.
His wife drove around in a Triumph Stag.
My brother has a XJ6 in storage the last 20yrs.
Now these were the best !

oh don't fucking start me on the oil leaks hahahahaha. Just as bad as Commodores and their radiator leaks (although, not sure if that's just a problem of my brother in law's, or with the range itself)

I wouldn't buy it in a fit however the colour is interesting, not sure if a factory colour tbh but that's fine. Yeah alot of winding back of clocks went on back in the day. Who can tell.
Surely it’s a rebuilt 186 or 253.
Sideways - yer holders known as crab walkers at times haha
Still nice beast but how much bog is under the paintwork !?
