Surprised to see Twitter hasn't exploded with Bennie after that. Early morning in Australia but a lot of people have been posting in lead up. Decent UK time for the serious viewers of football and maybe a bit of the QPR cohort.

Italy definitely have vulnerabilities. Australia rounding them to whip crosses in.

How calm is the ref? I like it. That clash then would see most refs sprint over and try to fight the guilty player.
 
Jovanovic free easily gathered from an identical position where he scored in the Asian Cup.
 
Where is our midfield? Miles of space when ball falls on the ground there. No initiative from Okon on the ball.

It just looks like they every time we get into a good area we go "oh crap I'm going to score against Italy" and then we fluff it

need to forget the occasion and the opposition
 
Correct yellow. The defenders boot grazes down Toure's leg and gets a bit of toe. Italians moaning about screaming for fouls. Pot, meet kettle.

These missed chances are so exciting yet disappointing. Promising we can set up such moments but frustrating we couldn't convert.

Again, H2H tie breaking is shite.
 
We need to take some shots from distance, Italy's deep block is too deep
 
Okon beats man nicely on edge of box. Australia definitely in the game. Blowing a few excellent chances. The silly play at the back and the lack of midfield coverage allows Italy to dictate transitions. Australia with a very good pressing game up top to unsettle and turn over the ball.
 
Half time subs? I wasn't convinced Youlley is at his best at the moment

Fullbacks a bit weak on either side though we only really have a replacement right back and I have no idea how good he is
 
You can kind of sense in a layers body language that they are going to miss. shot and I felt that way with every one of the 1v1s today
