The Western United Thread

Western United NPL team presentation was earlier tonight @ ironbark fields. Maybe a sign of whats to come considering its a fairly unusual time, date & location for such an event...
I heard that the South are planning a 2 week holiday before coming back for a mini o preseason before the Championship in October and they have 3 tune up games lined up and fairly certain to go ahead, Victory , Melbourne City AND Western United........

Not really. Can set stringent requirements on a return. Owners, stadium, plans, staffing etc
Those requirements NOT being met are what caused FA to yank the license to begin with... There is no mechanism to re-apply once those requirements are met outside of an expansion process...
they'll just have to wait till the APl wants to try regional Tarneit again in a few decades.

If those requirements had actually been enforced from the beginning instead of them literally bullshitting about all of those requirements then perhaps they would be a more viable long term proposition instead of the administrative clown show that exists at the moment.

Never a good sign when a statement is this brief and concludes with "no further comment".
Reminds of that "This Is The End" song at the beginning of Apocalypse Now movie.

Totally agree and I'm probably being too optimistic about it all. You cannot give this current administration any excuses, i agree with that entirely.

It also highlights the desperation APL is as business, allowing this BS go on from the beginning and allowing the rope to keep going till now.
Again I feel for the poor honest employees/players etc but this is an utter shonk from the beginning.

As we know the beyond stringest enforcement of the bullshit rules only applied to the NSL that put bids in (and when that failed bc they met them) they excluded them by other means like "imaginary stadiums" in place of existing ones! The masks come off with each failure and that delights me bc the so called 'bitters' tag fits the opposition better than it ever will us! Popcorn anyone?

Wollongong or North Qld to come in next please.
Wollongong can’t afford it and North Queensland already failed once. The only thing NQ has going for it is a stadium. It’s a rugby league area and Townsville’s small population of 200,000 realistically means you need 1/20 people to go to a game. Not gonna happen.
