Roar Youngster Taj Sorensen Signs Multi-Year Scholarship Deal

Brisbane Roar FC is pleased to announce midfielder Taj Sorensen has signed a multi-year scholarship deal, continuing his progression through the club's B Team pathway and onto professional football.

Before joining the Roar, Sorensen was a stand out for Logan City FC before making the move to the Roar where has been a regular in the Brisbane Roar B midfield throughout the 2026 NPL Queensland season.

Speaking on locking down Sorenson, Sporting Director James Gow said, “We’re pleased to see Taj sign his first professional deal off the back of his hard work and the potential we see in him. A local Queensland kid, Taj has the skill, dedication and drive to have a long career in the game and we believe that the signing of this contract is just the start of it. We look forward to seeing him continue to grow this season.”

Speaking on signing his deal, Taj Sorensen said, “It’s truly a dream come true to sign a professional contract with my hometown team. I’ve grown up my whole life supporting the club so I’m driven to give my all this season and contribute wherever I can for the badge.”

Roar Lock Down Forward Niall Thom to Multi-Year Scholarship Deal

Brisbane Roar FC can confirm forward Niall Thom has signed a multi-year scholarship deal ahead of the 2026/27 A-League season, rewarding a breakout debut season for the Roar B graduate.

Thom made his first team debut off the bench in Round 21 of the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season, scoring on debut in a 2-2 draw against Western Sydney Wanderers at Suncorp Stadium. He then went on to make six senior appearances in his first top flight campaign for the club. Prior to this, Thom joined Brisbane Roar B for the 2026 NPL Queensland season after coming through Brisbane City, and was among the B Team's leading scorers throughout the campaign.

Speaking on promoting Thom to a professional deal, Brisbane Roar Sporting Director, James Gow said, "Niall is a footballer who has integrated seamlessly into the professional environment we have here at the club. He is a young footballer hungry to improve and give his all for the club. We’re proud to be able to give another young Queenslander a path to professional football and I look forward to seeing him develop as the season progresses.”

Speaking on signing his contract, Niall Thom said, "I’m extremely proud to have signed my first professional deal at a club I grew up supporting. The Roar has given me my chance and I want to keep pushing for more minutes with the first team and repay the faith they have shown in me."
