I like the set up this season. It appears it is building.

We definitely need a young Aussie striker though to build on. Vergos is not that great (or at least hasn’t been).

Maybe Santos can step up to score more.

Santos has been patchy. Maybe finds his feet this season.

Agree re: a young striker. I think Lavale and Najdovski are still looking for home from WU but can't tell you whether they're any good though.

If K. Yengi is still missing Aberdeen squads in January we should enquire.

I'm warming to this.

Victory has pivoted towards youth with its recruitment strategy. So leadership for us is very valuable and makes sense regarding Mata. I'm looking forward to what he can teach Valadon, Jelacic, Grimaldi. It's gotta be great for them.

Mata, Genreau and Valadon supported by Jelacic and D'Arrigo gives us midfield options we didn't have last year.

We have an interesting squad. A lot more depth, but the quality of our best 11 isn’t as good as last season.

Only thing we're missing from our squad is some competition for Vergos at CF. Reec is lucky because he'll be getting game time when his form probably hasn't warranted it. I wonder if he can turn it around.

To be in contention for the premiers plate, you usually need score 50+ goals (unless you have a really tight defence).

Can you see our attack scoring 50 goals? I can’t. Vergos, Nish and Santos are all going to have to hit double figures for that to happen. And as you said, we have no legitimate backup for Vergos.

The club probably feels like they need to give Jing Reec a go after signing him for 3 years… But he’s just not up to it.

The same Yengi who celebrated antagonistically in front of the NT back in the day? No thanks.

Speaking of Nishan, where is he? Hasn't appeared in any pre-season game, not even on the bench. On the socials, I haven't noticed him in any of the training pics.

I don't remember that from Yengi but just identifying out of favour Aussie strikers. I rate him since his move to CF.

I can't see us hitting 50 goals. I think we'll need re-inforcement in January. The only attacking players we could get now the transfer period has closed are those two young WU strikers, if those rule changes to help out WU players are adopted. Not sure if thats been confirmed? I wouldn't be against a hail mary.

I do. Victory fans racially abused him as he celebrated

I thought he was named in the team for Australia Cup game in WA. Don't think he played.

I thought it was comments on social media after? Inexcusable whatever the scenario. Some people barely have two neurons to rub together in their heads.

I guess we have visa spots and can bring in free agents so we may not be done yet.

We're going back a few years ago now, but I think you're right.

Yengi celebrated the goal in front of the NT and cited after the game that growing up supporting Adelaide, we were the enemy, etc, etc.

Then there were some disgusting comments made on social media afterwards.

Bamford has spoken about Australia in the past.

He would completely monster the A-league.

Would tap into the massive Leeds United fanbase in Australia too.
Bamford would be amazing, but doubt we have the coin. It's interesting he's spoken of Australia before.
