The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Hearing this weekends match against Metrostars will be Ante Juric's last for Sydney United as he has stepped aside for personal reasons.
Heard his father isn't well and the two jobs are too much for him and wants to spend more time with his dad.

He will still coach the women's team.
If that's the case, then fair enough... Coaching women that can't get relegated would be easier than the expectations put on him at EP.

Preston getting less than they get in the npl is a worry. Are fans cooling on the tournament?

And yet City v Victory got 18,319……..vitriolic insults incoming……..
a bit down on last years equivalent fixture mind you

hopefully good numbers this weekend for both leagues

this might not be a popular opinion but I would expect at some point that Preston’s crowds will start to normalise a bit. They’ve been riding the crest of a wave for a couple of years, have had a lot of momentum and are “cool” at the moment. Have said time and again, whilst they’ve always a been one of the better supported clubs in vic particularly in terms of raw passion, the last couple of years have been a massive outlier for them, for decades their crowds were similar to Melb knights or something. South have always been the best in terms of numbers. At some point they won’t be the flavour of the month anymore. Again, I don’t mean this in a Bad way, I think they always have and will have good support, but I just think they’re over performing at the moment

No need for insults. We all want this to succeed.

The weather that day was utterly awful. It was the coldest November day in nearly a century. Kudos to all that made the trek to watch matches in that weather.
how cold?

I suppose that indicates that a summer championship with h&a is probably better than winter?

It felt like a Melbourne winter in late July.
Have always said this is what gives Melb weather a bad rep. It’s not the winter, winter is average most places. It’s that relative to the rest of the country you can cop these sorts of days all the way up to December. So you’re looking at half the year where winter type Weather is possible

12 degree max, raining all day, feels like temp in the single digits all day.

And no doubt it is for crowds
I can live with football being a summer sport in Australia for financial reasons

Australian summer is my winter in england, so it gives me something to look forward to in the gloomy uk winter (being purely selfish)

Nsl crowds went up when it moved to summer, so the data are in, it’s just that I’d miss having something to do in winter haha. Pretty sure this was one of the sticking points re Melb knights application, they said theyd only get crowds if it were in summer aligned with the a league

haha indeed makes winter twice as bad

we have football and Christmas to get us through the gloom. In Australia, all the party is in summer!
