this is a major one right now being the start.
Some teams have retained most of their winter season squad and done some buying - whereas such as SU 8/9 new players in the team.
Spirit lost their season winning gaffa + players who performed the season.
Many players for whoever have only been signed for the Championship.
Etcetc - I think the Melb based teams have been more stable than ours.
IF it ever gets to H/A (fingers crossed) then Clubs naturally will set for 2/3 seasons ahead.
Good point.
An 8 team home and away season would concentrate the talent in those 2-3 states raising the quality of teams and general quality of the football being played. You can sign players on medium term contracts (e.g. 3 years) and invest in their development.
Most teams in Melbourne who have signed players in September have largely done so that they will also be playing in the 2026 NPL Victoria competition. I would imagine there would be some players in Victoria that have just signed up for the two month competition like Fornaroli at Avondale.
