Scotland has the same population as Victoria and is also the highest attended league in Europe, (per capita)

It’s not a dig at Scotland, I know they have a strong football culture. I know it’s a smaller population, but the football culture and history of the clubs are also stronger there and there’s less competition from other sports so I think it’s not the worst comparison to make. Point being, if it’s ok for an established second tier there, I think it’s not unacceptable hereScotland has the same population as Victoria and is also the highest attended league in Europe, (per capita)
Would have thought if the Australian championship could be as good as the Scottish championship that would be a good result. Also there are only 10 clubs, so not sure why it’s a necessity that we must have 12 to startIt’s not a dig at Scotland, I know they have a strong football culture. Not suggesting it was a dig mate, just putting it into context. It’s not a dig at Scotland, I know they have a strong football culture. Post covid, Melbourne City have averaged more than 7k each season whilst being little brother to Victory, which is on par with SM's best ever seasons who only had Knights as competition? Does this mean nobody cared about SM as well?
That’s a cop out imo. I’m sure Souths had matches against Knights for example which attracted above average attendances etcWhats the average when you take out Victory filling AAMI Park twice for them every year?
I wouldnt say Knights were always our biggest rival, probably during the Viduka era mainly.
The same old bullshit comparisons merry-go-round.... 21 years down the track and your splitting hairs over a couple of thousand people.....That’s a cop out imo. I’m sure Souths had matches against Knights for example which attracted above average attendances etc
Pretty much, the only people that EVER cared about SM or Knights or Burgers or any NSL team (effnik or otherwsie) were the football supporters of this country - Considering the population of Australia has gone from 18 or so million in the 90s to what 28 million now... I would say a that proportionally MORE people cared about SMFC than ANY of your franchises....Post covid, Melbourne City have averaged more than 7k each season whilst being little brother to Victory, which is on par with SM's best ever seasons who only had Knights as competition? Convincing ppl that the duck is a duck continues to be worthless as is evident imo ... this is a championship thread, a thread for us as stakeholder to discuss OUR goods and bads, those that have AL opinions or perspectives can head off there so we dont repeat & keep going in circles.Pretty much, the only people that EVER cared about SM or Knights or Burgers or any NSL team (effnik or otherwsie) were the football supporters of this country - Considering the population of Australia has gone from 18 or so million in the 90s to what 28 million now... I disagree, all are welcome, they can criticise all they want, the fact they are talking about it is "metric heaven" as far as Im concerned....Convincing ppl that the duck is a duck continues to be worthless as is evident imo ... this is a championship thread, a thread for us as stakeholder to discuss OUR goods and bads, those that have AL opinions or perspectives can head off there so we dont repeat & keep going in circles.
We welcome legit concerns, questions etc. but the rest amongst yourselves, in that thread where it belongs, and leave us to do US.
Nah i cant let you skate on this one, the average City v Victory game is over 20k, so if City are averaging 7k and most years are allowed to be hosts in 2 of the 3 encounters thats doing a lot of heavy lifting towards the average. We never had a derby where the opposition brings 20k.That’s a cop out imo. I’m sure Souths had matches against Knights for example which attracted above average attendances etc
Perhaps its just taken its toll finally...I disagree, all are welcome, they can criticise all they want, the fact they are talking about it is "metric heaven" as far as Im concerned....

The South 7k or 8k is actually legit.
Apia vs utd & wolves vs bergers are the games of the round for me.. with both home sides as favourites.. I have feeling wolves will be the biggest challenge for bergers have to date as its away and they have recruited well.To get back to the Australian Championship, match of the round surely must be APIA vs Sydney United. APIA with a big win away to Metrostars and Sydney United conceding that really late equaliser.
APIA would go in as slight favourites.
Every club has loyal supporters.Be that as it may, for a club nobody cares about, they still have some loyal supporters. In your opinion, what do you thinks Souths would average in the Aleague?

South Melbourne is the only Melbourne team playing at home. Lets hope it attracts extra attendees ...Finally back to some football talk.

We have had the better of APIA, i think we only lost twice in our last 15 meetings.
However they will be heavy favorites tomorrow night.
