i get that, but these are canberra croats lol. i agree, there wont be problems.

many preston travelling?
I think so their supporter group posted something on their socials and I know for a fact the game has made people interested in sydney to drive down for the day

The 1pm kick off is perfect too

Does Canberra Croatia have a supporter group like SUS ?

i've heard today the police presence will also be at the APIA game on friday night. Apparently it will stick with Sydney United for each match this tournament.

This is coming down from the FA.

Apia have been given a bill for $30k for the police and security. Which they are filthy at, they've turned around and told the FA to fuck off, as the two clubs never had a problem.

you'd notice the recent social media post both clubs did in solidarity, but the FA and Cops dont give a fuck.

what DH's ! bloody FA weak as piss, they are letting SU being singled out the mugs.
Yer I saw your allocated 3bays when checking the ticks that surprised me, Beretta is the allocation forced by the FA (not sure you may know) or is it APIA stratergy keeping you away from behind the goals where away support should be imo.

Anyway I agree fingers crossed the rain keeps away I have a feeling its gonna be a top hard game like we always have and agree can't recall any major issues.

In your opinion would this sort of scenario be enough to dissuade your club from further involvement in a second Div? Or something they expected they might have to deal with

they do, at a much lesser scale.

its not just active, they've put a blanket on all Sydney United Supporters young and old. Apparently we can only buy tickets online and not at the gate. (police call)

Anyways lets see how much truth there is too this on friday night.

i dont think they expected this, if we need it at the next 2 home games, we'll run at a loss all tournament.

Its like, hey congrats you are a foundation member club, but we will fuck you while your part of it.

Fa top brass must be posters on a league reddit. Many are cheering for whoever su58s opponents are

To be fair, that does drive interest and emotional investment

That's disgraceful. If there is no tension between the clubs, then why should APIA be lumped with all those unnecessary security costs that would wipe away any profit from the match day.

THATS exactly right... These pea brains are hating something they dont understand soooo much, but at the same time paying more attention to it than they ordinarily would have....

Happened to us (to the tune of 5 k) against both Victory and Preston this year....

Yea unnecessary to allocate bays imo. Would have been good if the away bay had been allocated to the old wooden terrace near the entrance
Correct me if i am wrong, but all clubs have away bays in the A league and probably every league in the world.

Then again, some countries ban all away supporters.

The most hated club in Australia according to them lol.

Once cried at our inclusion into the league, and wouldnt invest any interest in it, and here they are, cheering for whoever we play.

Our existence bothers them all. Fuck Them.

I will preface this with me having no bad experiences with police or security staff. I am aware how different others' experiences will be.

Didn't someone rip an illegal flare at one of the Championship games? I thought security wandered off with one to put it somewhere safe - but maybe it was an unauthorised safe smoke flare instead...?

As long as a single person rips one at a football game the police presence will be justified and ongoing. Doesn't take a riot to continue something they have already labelled dangerous - just any little thing will do it.

From my personal perspective, I give the police a smile and a nod every time I see them on the way in, in the stadium, and on the way out. Same as the volunteers and security people. Doesn't hurt me at all (in fact I mean it when I do it) and surely making them feel welcome and appreciated instead of reviled or scowled at has to help the overall impression that we are friendly, passionate fans and not thugs and criminals.

It is not their fault the decisions have been made higher up and we can try to show how unnecessary it is one game at a time. I can imagine a future where the coppers put their hand up to be picked for the job because they have a good, safe time in a great atmosphere. To me it is an idea worth hoping for.

As an aside, is it something clubs can collectively approach FA for - if they show they are taking steps to make the gameday safe and have a good history can the FA foot the police bill? Clubs whose supporters cross the line then wear the cost and the innocent are not tarred with the same football brush.

Yea but a league away ends aren’t segregation in the same way they are overseas for most games. Ie for most games you can just sit in general admin if you want, it’s more if you elect to get a ticket in the “active bay”. Also as it’s been said above these fixtures have been played multiple times this year without a specifically allocated “away end” and if they were gonna do it, it’s a shit place to stick the Sydney united fans just imo. The nsl never really had away ends either usually, it was just first come first served for the most part, but that was probably the source of some of the crowd issues that did occur. probably this sort of thing is the way it’ll be going forward with the increasing professionalism, it’s obviously just in stark contrast to the fixtures that have already been played between all the clubs at npl level this year in nsw to the best of my knowledge
