The Australian Championship 🇦🇺🏆

Would imagine if they did theres a chance they might play out of the relatively new football sa facility “service fm stadium” rather than their home ground which is pretty modest due to the fact for a large of their history they played out of Hindmarsh

Good call. Although, City has played their previous Aus Cup matches at Marden, which is the home of Adelaide Blue Eagles. But Service FM might be the place this time and it's just around the corner from their actual home ground.

Quick rundown of who's still in the running for spots (maximum points available in the right column). As NSW is sending a mid-table finisher to the Championship😜 anyone just outside the relegation zone there can still make qualify!

South hobart is a shoe in for a permanent spot imo.. i couldnt think of a better buy in team from the periphery!

Can only dream, a South Melbourne Hellas visit would be a great occasion, can you imagine it on a warm Saturday night or Sunday afternoon at the Marconi club. You could easily be looking at Marconi’s biggest crowd since the nsl if marketed correctly and if fixtured at the right time with decent weather…but I’m fully mentally prepared for the group to be something along the lines of Marconi, Broadmeadow magic, Sutherland sharks, Bayswater city….and 11am Saturday morning kick offs

Correct that was where they beat the wanderers in that first ever “cupset” in the first year of the cup. Service fm didn’t exist then as far as I’m aware. Seems to be the place they play most of the state cup finals etc nowadays. The Adelaide city v Adelaide United cup game was there a few years back too

As long as we get at least one season in before the robots kill us all or the nuclear apocalypse I’m happy

Any truth to the competition going home and away in 2027. That's what I've heard in the past from the powers at Sydney Olympic.
In all seriousness, who knows how true, all based on hearsay atm but have heard this being thrown about. Obviously Olympic believed it at one point atleast, because they put their eggs in that basket as a club by turning their npl team into a youth set up prematurely

havent heard anything regarding that format.
Was always end goal.of the majority of the foundation clubs ... perhaps not of the FA... i cant get a read on FA though, given their troubles and the bailouts i really dont see them wanting to change formats or partially fund anything different... i think they will persist with this as is for now (believe its 3 yrs total) then claim no money or re evaluation and a pretend second tier proposal that will then never come!

Pressure for more funding to funnel to AL bailouts will only grow stronger under the umbrella of total failure of that system and the rest will the history for my kids to discuss the tournament long ago they attended and south won.....bc even then we wont have a second tier imo (hope.im wrong).

the lack of another round of applications seems to back up the above argument also...the fact APL cronies are no longer even arguing the A2 angle says to me they are content having done enough to kill any competition to them for time being!

Come on boys, in all seriousness, it has that distinct feel of a bloke who does the bare minimum to sting along his place holder missus knowing it’ll never amount to anything

Hopefully we get some sort of news today or tomorrow. Now would be the perfect time to generate some buzz, given NPL seasons are either finished, or nearing their completion. As someone mentioned a while back, it seems that Football Australia can only concentrate on one thing at a time. Hopefully, they'll bother to put some attention on this competition!

It would be good to hear the 5-year commitment reiterated, that the new head of FA gave when interviewed during the finals last year.

I believe something is stirring and clubs are meeting this week. I reckon we will have some info and dates soon... At least I hope.
