Summer of Cricket thread

I think both teams a bit guilty of overdoing the chin music, line and length looked pretty tricky to handle

Jacks seems like a good addition to the Pom team.

They have the talent to be competitve, but these first 2 matches were wasted opporrunities.

Our bowling will be stronger with Cummins and Lyon.

Pitches will probably be flatter from now on, that will suit the pom batsmen, but not their bowlers.

Is this one of the worst England squads 2 down with a couple of our best players out one being Capt Cummins ?
Both Tests under 5days let alone struggling to 4.
The low scoring by them for eg pushing 200 both innings 1st test is woeful.
There was typical talking up about this Series being a good chance for the Poms.
Do we think they can win one Test ?

If they forget bazball and have a more flexible approach like this morning maybe they can bounce back

Their quicks are good but lack fitness and cant last long enough, they also go to back of a length bowling too often.
They have some clear weaknesses in their batting but some decent players too

Their fielding is usually good but rubbish this year with little positive to say really

What they need is to train harder, make better decisions with bat and bsll and execute better.

And they need to revamp their strategy with bat and ball.

Their coach needs to be flexible enough to learn from his mistakes.

Deep into the series with Australua 2-0 up and having momentum winning the ashes is gone. Making a contest of the Ashes and winning a test should be the initial aim.

If they simply play disciplined patient test cricket they have the talent to make the next 3 tests a contest.

Yep. A mature partnership from Stokes and Jacks. Brooks must learn this approach too or be gone before he can build a Test career..
Yet Brooks has an upper 50s average and a Test SR of 90 plus.

His fast scoring, attacking play works for him most of the time.

The Stokes/Jacks partnership in the daylight, where they played the ball on its merits, worked for England for a session and a half.

I take my hat off to them where they made hard runs under scoreboard pressure.

At that stage dropping Lyon showed up too. Aus was tight, but lacked penetration on a decent pitch. Jacks extracted decent bounce and turn for England.

Very impressed with Jacks.

They should have bowled him a lot more.

DC, Ward and Silk have to lift Tassie back into the contest today.

Ward (66) Silk (46) is less than needed and Doran failed, no surprise there.

Chaudhary scored a thrilling ton last game, can he repeat the dose and drag along the tail with him.
It was a debacle against South Aus. SA won by 10 wickets!

Can't get any inside info on why Kuhnemann wasn't playing in Adelaide for Tas? He was interviewed at the Gabba at the Test with Bris Heat kit on. Matt K has played little red ball cricket this season, and has played for Aus in white ball. He needs more red ball cricket.

Blues have a stranglehold on this game yet they have not enforced the follow on and kept a strong foot on their throat. Poor captaincy.

Still Sam Konstas wont mind as he has added a 50 to his f/i century.
You need to get Ryan Kinsell into the first Blues team.

If you don't want him, we need a decent right handed bat at the top of the order in Tas. We have plenty of lefties.

As usual useless Blues selectors are pussy footing, as to my knowledge Kingsell is not even rookie contracted as yet. Please hands off TCA, you have already poached one quality youngster in Raf MacMillan. Dont be greedy.
Have picked Lyon.
Then NESER wouldnt have been at his home ground where he has a fabulous record to crack open their innings for the win by nailing Stokes. His first Test 5fer was crucial.

Would Lyon have gotten us that win, doubtful.
