Summer of Cricket thread

looks like england fought back mopping up the tail and getting to 3 for 200 odd until webster struck twice!

Webster 2 Wickets in 3 Balls.

Turned the test match on its head.
Richie was just saying my relative by marriage’s bowling isn’t Test standard!

2 wickets in an over isn’t too bad!

Great outfield catch by Green for the second wicket. Green hasn’t had much luck. His performances have been better than his figures.

Webster just bowled a doosra.

Terrific ton by Bethell. England have found a young 22 yo top order batting talent. His first red ball ton is in Ashes cricket.

Bethell is good to watch. I’ve approximated his strike rate is over 60 too.

Weathers runs out Smith.

Webster takes his 3rd from his off spin- Stokes caught Smudge bowled Slug. Very good slips catch by Smith!

Poms 7-267.

Webster really throwing himself ahead of Green as the all-rounder option.

I think Aus can play both.

Green can bat at 5 when Usman retires. He bowled some spiteful deliveries when bowling today - devoid of luck.

Green took a brilliant outfield catch for Webster’s 2nd wicket too.

Barrel dismisses Carse, caught Smith in slips.

Poms in strife, although Boof Lehman thinks 180-200 will be hard to chase.

You definitely love Green.

I think he's good and a strong talent, but I think he needs a bit of a break from the International side, and a few games back with the state side. Recover to 100% and then brought back in.

I agree but IMO Webster can also bat 5, his strike rate was ok.

Green will be a wicket taking bowler if he can bowl the right line and length.

Green seems to be bowling too short, too often. Webster is likely to do less bowling, hence he can probably bat higher.

If we play a specalist spinner, Webster is the second spinner, the main spinner being a leg spin bowler is ideal.

It is worth persisting with Green, but he does need to work on his bowling.

I see the long term potential in Green. I’m not sure we’ve had a player like him since Keith Miller. And he is our only current player under the age of 30.

I enjoyed reading a lot about Webster and Green in the media last night.

As I maintain we should have played Green instead of Usman at 5 right from the start of the series, with Webster batting 6 or 7.

Selecting Inglis of Webster instead was also idiocy.

A lot of cricket pundits have said they see in Webster a battle hardened, very experienced red ball player who knows his game well, but with modest talent. He is playing to the best of his ability though.

Green has immense talent - but doesn’t know his own game that well - yet.
