Summer of Cricket thread

Nathan Lyon has sustained a hamstring injury and won't play any further part in the third Test. He's in doubt for the Boxing Day Test and possibly the New Year's Test also.

Might have toss Boland the ball.
Boland looks like a good option.

I still think Australia should win, but we have been out played the last 2 days. That started with our battling collapse yesterday morning.

I doubt that Lyon will play the last 2 tests.

Ingliss instead of Webster is looking like a dumber decision by the minute.

Green not offering eoungh with bat and ball.

If we need to rely on him to win it for us, I'll be nervous, but sfranger things have happened.

I wou,d have given Boland 3-4 overs at the start of the day, i think we were hoping to play Green into form, but that didn't pay off.

For someone that is only given a very soft ball to take wickets, he is going fine. Was close to our best in f/i and despite not taking a wicket in s/i he beat the bat and forced a number of skied balls that fell safely. He is due a decent score too. He wont be dropped for Webster or Inglis.

I would try Webster as one of the spin options for bowling day.

If we lose this test or perhaps even if we don't drop Green and Ingliss.

We need to improve batting, bowling and fielding.

I would like the spinner who partners Webster to be a good fielder and hopefully some who bats a little better than Lyon.

Green can do his chances a lot of good if he takes a wicket or 2 and we win.

I my main complaint is that he sometimes leaks a lot of runs.

In this sort of run chase one or two high scoring overs can give the batting side momentum and 1 wicket can give the bowling team momentum.

My hunch is Green will bowl again and one of those 2 things will happen.

If the captain had more faith in him, he would get the harder ball more often. The Poms rolled our tail with the old ball.

People here forgetting Green is only a short time back from major back surgery. Played two lead in shield games, bowled in only the one. He has to be underdone, reason the skipper is giving him the old ball. Gotta say tho that since the Windies tour he is having a problem with the willow, cant get a start. His dumb shot in Brissie wont help his peace of mind either.

Not sure why Starc wasnt round the wicket earlier when he was leaking runs.

No idea why Archer tried to stick around after that catch.

Loved the stunned look from the Barmy Army.

England all out for 352 with Marnus taking the catch to retain the Ashes. Australia win the third Test by 82 runs and take an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Excellent last 30 mins or so with Starc and Boland bowling in tandem.

I still think that the Poms shaded us day 4 and 5, it was closer thsn it should have been.

Great catches from Labs won it for us.
