Summer of Cricket thread

Think we probably need another 100-150 then we can declare.

Can't see England getting near 350-400 with that style of batting.
Bat until around drinks in the middle session tomorrow. Takes them out of contention unless a batting miracle. One down by tea, four down by stumps. All over by tea day five

Batting looked pretty easy for Head and Carey pitch was flat and the pom bowlers tired,

356 run lead get it up to 420 then start throwing the bat. We can afford to bat 1.5 sessons or even declare 30 mins before tea.

Poms are not going to chase down 480 in 5 sessons, but they might try.

Gotta say Ben Stokes has won my respect and admiration this series. The guy is a warrior and a inspiration to his team mates. If the other Poms had his balls we Aussies would have had one hellova Ashes battle on our hands.

what a brute of a ball, almost unfair lol
Clever tactic by Mitch of making Ben think he was continuing his outside off line, by then bowling a wobble seamer that cut back to castle his woodwork. Ben knew Mitch had out psyched him by his reaction.

what'd I miss?
A batathon at the Gabba. Gotta say the bowling was horrible, far too many short balls from both sides. Jhye Richardson the best for mine, his change up that dismissed Renshaw was special, but he was called for overstepping. Give him a break ump as only cms in it.

Bit of a quandary this. Will Stokes want to bat a draw or will he revert to their cult batting style that has not worked so far and that many former players are saying is now dead and buried. I think they will knuckle down and go for the draw to keep alive the series.

Inglis will be the guy to make way when Smithy returns next match. He does not look a Test class batsman.

Nathan Lyon's wicket falls cheaply, caught LBW by Brydon Carse for a golden duck. Australia now 9/344 but with a sizeable lead of 429 that should secure us the series.

Fantastic pressure player is Ben Stokes.
