Summer of Cricket thread

Alex like the champion man and cricketer he is admitted he nicked it. The guy operating Snicko stuffed up. Alex dodged a bullet to go on and post one of his best ever tons.
I don't think he did, he said he heard something and was worried there was a feather but wouldve reviewed it if given out but not confidently. The replay showed a few inch gap between bat and ball when it passes the bat. I'm surprised the split screen hasn't been shown which is pretty definitive imo

crikey 6 down.

Is the pitch better for bowlers than we think? The wickets that oz lost were described as bad shots but they looked to me like they surprised the batter with extra bounced? Maybe a hint of uneven bounce/2 paced?

looks super flat mind you

well flip this outlook that ofcourse you always need to prepare for the future.
Warnies 2nd last game @ 37 was Ashs BDay Test 5/39 - then Syd was his last game, got his 1000th international wicket, knocked 71runs 1st innings for eg.
Why would not play GOATS.
The young ones will get their time.

Now can we please get Brook out ?! his strike rate is not too bad as well.
Must admit I enjoyed Brook’s batting, but was pleased to see him dismissed.

I actually was surprised D quoted Lyon as a GOAT ???????
D is not the only one either. I have never called him that, as I rate Warne our one and only GOAT. Perhaps the worlds only too. Murali bowled with an impure action so never rated him alongside Warne.

Poms in trouble unless Stokes plays one of his blistering innings.
I think he is past those. Is a much more mature batsman these days. In fact after their horrendous batting in the first two matches, I reckon the whole team is over this type of mindless aggression, here in any case.

The pitch settled down and looked flat with the old ball and tired bowlers at the end of a hot day.

I would start with Lyon tomorrow and save Cummins and Starc for the new ball.

The pitch is that flat that the last 2 Pom wickets don't seem like a formality to me. We did very well getting 8 apart from not quite taking a few half-chance catches.

I hope Stokes is doing the laundry and making breakfast for the Poms, and he probably is. He definately does everything else.

The Poms are a 1.6 man team Stokes is 1.1 and Archer is 0.5.

root pretty handy too to be fair

Yep, Root has been good.

I don't understand some of the shots batsmen in both sides are playing.

Around 60% of wickets are from good balls, but the other 40% are bad decisions.
would be interesting to hear from the batters whether there is something in the pitch we aren't seeing or they all suck haha

true true Richie, I actually was surprised D quoted Lyon as a GOAT ???????
For he said Goat bowling well in Adelaide.
I'd never consider Lyon was exactely that despite his sound career.
Hence quoting about the GOAT - you play them till they decide to pull up stumps - bugga the young fellas :)
Mate, I'm a huge fan of Lyon's. He is the GOAT, but I'm worried about his advancing age. Lyon bowled well yesterday and unlike our resident cricket expert, Richie, think he, or another spinner should have been selected in the first 2 Tests.

From following football, I'm also really concerned about team renewal. I think we only have one current player, Green, who is under the age of 30?

Other former captains have written publicly about Bailey's reluctance to make some hard calls and to continue with a very old Aussie team. It is fraught!

If I were George Bailey and Andrew McDonald, I would be laying down the law that players who don't play red ball Shield and FC cricket, have no hope of being selected for Test cricket. There are good battle hardened Shield players from all states, who deserve to be in Test calculations under the age of 30.

White ball, pop star, poster boy, cash chasing franchise cricketers will not be selected.

Two of those battle hardened Shield players are Neser and Doggett, apart from being over 30. Other recent selections have been Beau Webster and Weatherald.

Hate to admit it, but Brook is a class act.

Love watching him bat!

This looks absolutely insane and I vaguely remember it

Stokes really single handedly was the reason we drew rather than won the last two series and has shown fight this series

for all the silly bazball nonsense he has been an absolute gun of a criketer for England
