Mexico’s not really ‘passport-bro’ turf as such, so prob a good idea to keep your expectations low in that regard. Plus the super(or ahem, ‘adult’)model-looking ones are likely to be some narco-kingpin’s trophy-wife/GF/side-b1tch..👀
As someone who speaks Spanish with a Colombian missus. I am telling you, there is plenty for the boys.

My squad with likely injuries considered:

Ryan Gauci Izzo

Miller Italiano Circati Burgess Rowles Degenek Bos Elder

Irvine Metcalfe Robertson Balard O'Neill Yazbek Nisbet Devlin

McGree Irankunda Goodwin Toure Sapsford Stamatelopoulos Tilio

I wouldn't mind cutting Geria and persisting with Italiano at RWB so we can stack further up all Miller offers some CB cover as would Elder or Iredale.

We're closer to the WC so I don't know if we should experiment much but this squad can allow part of the game to have a 442. I wouldn't mind seeing 442 or 433.

Nice squad. Badolato worth a look also if keeps up current form

Yes, I think his versatility can get him in. He's a 10 but I think has also been deployed as a striker.

It's fact we won't see Nisbet considered. I'd love to see Nisbet and Yazbek on at the same time with Balard shielding. A diamond of Balard Nisbet Yazbek and Robertson.

I like this squad. I agree on Geria too. I'd reconsider him if he gets more gametime but he's not a player you should be coming in cold. Degenek also with minimal gametime.

I don't think I'd risk McGree. Let him get back into the Middlesbrough team. It would be good to see Kalik again, and see him get game time. I reckon he can do 10 and false 9 if we wanted to utilise our wide forwards differently. That may be a good plan B.

Elder must be brought in soon just to see how he fits. It's stupid having a player like him playing at his level, with his flexibility, not in the squad for his depth alone.

Boyle and Hrustic are certs I think looking at Popovic's past selections.

No Luongo and Segecic makes selection discussions less interesting.

If Volpato wants a chance he probably needs to brought in soon.

I’d like to see Degenek and Geria replaced but with Souttar still not recovered and Matthews injured again, who do you bring in? Elder deserves a shot, but probably have enough cover for the left side of defence. Same with Boyle and Hrustic, but with Luongo injured, Robbertson only playing one game, and Nisbet not being considered, realistically who can come in? Volpato is a pipe dream and doesn’t want to play for us anyway, wish he would be forgotten. I like the forwards but doubt Popa would pick Tilio, not playing much and too short (in his philosophy of footballers, not mine).

5-1 Colombia, there just to darn good and will be running rings around us all day long. If there reserve players smashed Mexico 4-0 just imagine what there full strength squad are gonna do to the Socceroo's cum 2 weeks time. Bring on Pot 3!!!

Lucky for us, it doesn't hinge on just that result.

Your idiotic predictions were old before they began. Maybe you'll get one right for a change.

Iredale was called in once. Alex Grant is really an absolute emergency. Some of these injuries now show Triantis could get in. Teague is off our radar but probably not Popovic's.

Deng (1 game), Grant, Trewin and Iredale (no games) are the other CBs we've seen in the squad under Popovic. Souttar (4 games) and Matthews (1 game) are injured. Some other options we haven't seen that have been injured include Farrell, Jones and Stensness. Stensness has just returned from injury so may get a look in. Karacic has also played CB. I can't think of any other options.

If the game was played this week, I would go for Trewin.

:ROFLMAO:
True true JS96 - having been accosted of my approach towards NM in another thread I have come to accept and embrace NM's idiotic predictions as just twisted humour I need to sit back think breath and exhale - good for the soul and besides 9.99 out of 10 he is pissanting.

Really look forward to these games heap of unkowns for us great test.

Now that the A League is back I would like to see this squad contain all those A league players with a realistic chance of making the world cup squad. That includes the senior players that some here think should be moved on. Maybe even some younger players who had solid seasons last year and have impressed in the first few matches. I won't name names, but I would hope around 8-10 A league players are selected.

Here are three long time servants that should be in this squad if fit. Behich, Goodwin and Leckie. I think some of the older guys that Popovic gave a cap to a year or so ago (eg Caceres, Brattan) probably shouldn't be there, but maybe Popovic will want to have one more look at them before he discards them. I think that leaves 4/5 spots for any who put their hands up. Any prospective wingbacks around? I think we need more depth in that position and perhaps a couple of defensive midfielders who are capable of providing links between the defence and the more forward players. I think we are ok with attacking players right now and I don't think I've thought that for around 12 years or so.

I'm ok with Behich, Goodwin and Leckie. Brattan and Caceres should be miles away from being considered, especially Brattan. I'm ok with one or two more being in the squad if they really deserve it, but would have no problem if none other than Behich, Goodwin and Leckie are there. Absolutely cannot see how 8-10 A League players could be considered realistic chances of making the final world cup squad.

I didn't say final squad, I said this one. These three windows are all about giving players on the fringe a go. Remember there is also an Asian Cup 6 months after the world cup so I think it's important that potential players for that get a chance in these windows. By the March window we should really be concentrating on the world cup squad so this is the last chance to see some others.

Goodwin is the only A League player that should be considered at all. The others are reserves. There's nothing to learn about them anymore. Borrello is just going to run around up front. Now Robertson is back we needn't think about Caceres.
