in a system where we only spend 2% on grass rootsI'm all in on Bielsa but we could not / cannot afford him.
Approx 10m per year was close to 10% of FA revenue.

I give you some slack overall what you say BUT......The innate first touch isn't bad except for Irvine and Miller. Basically our last two national team coaches have coached any self initiative out with rigid systems based in possession and backpassing. There are moments where our players go against the script and it looks alright. They do it at club level every week.
Sure their club team mates are good. What we keep avoiding is having our best team on the pitch and also releasing the shackles. I know it's also about getting results but we must aspire to getting results on our own terms and ideally be less boring about it.I give you some slack overall what you say BUT......
Our players do it/or play as such in their clubs because they have most times players with better all round one touch and more speed than they play with our NT as an observation.
Our NT play generally is slow - why ? for most of our players just don't have that "it" factor what we/they have been brought up with.
Why does Irankunda or before Azarni stand out and all marvel seeing their "it" factor for eg...Bos, a genuine looking "wow" player that could/will play around many other next level natural skilful players in better clubs ahead.
So many of ours in our NT games like against Jap we're half a yard slower.
When/where do we see regularly one touch 3/4times get out of trouble football with natural ease that X player is there to recieve touch and go.
So many our guys need to trap/hold that millisecond more to look and release - who's on first whats on second looking around.
Its those seconds that have us under the pump by the opponent gengenpressing lol - what a new word for the stat fellas.
In other words being put under pressure.
We don't go against the script much at all barring one like Bos who takes them on dribbling by 2/3.
Why does he go against the script ? because he has the ability/skill and confidence - how many others do enough of that ? where is our creative AM or 2 mids who follow the same yet its our wingback.
Want against the script - as some have mentioned give the fellas some rope - this stats/KNVB possession sideways but worse so much back passing reset is like watching grass grow and shows fear moving forward.
We've qualified - let these so called wonderous newly trained/programmed players play, we got nothing to lose at this stage, better than looking so 2nd rate against Ven despite the talking up about pin pointed "moments" that we looked so good ffs - for how many passages of play over 90mins ? christ these comments are clutching at straws.

I'll admit results are still more satisfying. The Tunisia game at the world cup was one where we had our attacking moments but also stood firmly and it was highly satisfying.
Instead of these concrete boot footballers ala Miller and Irvine, the dream was to have Triantis, Balard and Robertson and then maybe even Volapto whipping the ball around and looking sleek. Instead we've been given, as you rightly describe, sideways passing predictable scared play. In saying that the next generation are already much better on the ball and I think Grazor can identify the birth year where we're seeing vast improvement from.
All valid points. I'll say this though. Australian football is still that dysfunctional but we get a pretty good ROI when you compare it to what other countries have proportionately invested in, which haven't converted to tournament success. That's tournament football I guess.I like the term concrete footballers good one.
Well we can forget about Volpato - no point bringing him up real shame. Maybe he'll come around as he matures but we don't hold our breath.
I/we've been waiting for a lonnnng time and heard many a time watch this next lot coming through - I'll see it when I believe it !
I luv our NT like all of us - just like to see us step up/change and show some expressive football that gets your heart pumping and going wow we now really can play the beautiful game, I don't care win lose draw - hit the crossbar 3/4 times, dominate possession, make the other team look like they are the ones on the backfoot more than us.
Been a long time coming.
In saying about the nextGen - well that then comes down who is the gaffa ?? - right now and to this day its all about qualifying for the Cup - all that matters and this is ingrained for so long.
The boasting we keep making Cups isn't the badge of honour to rest on and counter argument like some do.
Making up the numbers is one thing and I'm glad we do but thats it.
Possibly I/we have too high expectations - a famous Clint Eastwood expression is - mans got to know his limitations![]()
yep and good point re $ - the ROI on investment somehow our doggedness get us over the line qualifying by fine margins the last 3 cups actually......All valid points. I'll say this though. You spelled Triantis wrongWell we can forget about Volpato![]()
Kai Trewin & no Devlin!!! You can't make this shit up!!! You may as well play Miller at RCB, where he plays for Blackburn, and play Overy or Irankunda at RWB - at least they will have the speed to keep up with Columbia's wingers
and Diaz vsing Miller !Expect more play up the right. Devlin getting stiffed.
Diaz to run into Miller's elbow.and Diaz vsing Miller !
