Yeah, I was a doubter when the team was announced, after Maty Ryan was massive at club level & Irvine with his experience. But my hat is off to Poppa & the whole coaching team - it was a masterclass in playing to our strengths. Duplicate against the US

Some have opinions that is healthy

SF of the long stayers you mentioned dropping MR was the main surprise for me whereas Irvine imo is a benchy period I was dam glad he wasn’t in the starting line up and long may it continue.

What's it called when you feel less confident after success? It's a fascinating match up so we'll see how things are adapted.

The group is still very open. If we draw then I hope the Turkey Paraguay game has a winner so at least 3rd is secured. Get that small aspect out of the way.

Paraguay with a dead rubber isn't easy as we saw with Peru in 2018. It's going to be a challenge regardless.

How can you not think that they are lefty? Both "chants" are having a crack at Trump, which is all the left does. I was going to say the same thing, these shouldn't have been posted because the "chants" aren't football related, they're directed at the President
 
For me to have a choice of winning just one game was the Turkey game. It's probably from living in Germany amongst the Turkish arrogance but it was so satisfying to get the victory after all the Turkey hype and their players being dismissive.

The USA players haven't said anything I think? Their media will do this regardless and I'm resigned to the fact the host nation will likely be successful and after their first game we can see how tough it is. I want to win and put them in their place but the Turkey game had me more riled up.

Friday night 9pm in summer is perfect for a dream and a nightmare.

Had some German comment on Trump's birthday compared to my sister in law who shares the same birthday. 'He's lived 50 years too long.'

I asked 'as opposed to the 50 years of you and the rest voting for the same 2 parties that have progressively diminished everything this country stood on?' Crickets.

They're mutually exclusive but if people put half the effort into worrying about the own affairs than that in other places then their community would be in better stead. Moan about everywhere else, do nothing locally.

The Socceroos can still make top two even if both matchday 2 games finish in a draw but other results will have to go our way in the last set of group stage matches.

Here you go JS…I’m sure our fellas saw this couple of weeks back or less.
That game was physical and the bants would have been on.

Chris Richards: The Crystal Palace and USA fullback brought up their previous aggressive Denver match, stating, "tempers boiled a little bit" and claiming he was ready to square up against the Aussies
 
I was surprised how mobile the USA midfield was with their ground coverage as far as the corners.

Watching the Turkey replay with their quick play, our defence was able to nudge them back. I wonder if the USA will go so quickly down the flanks to get their wing backs in behind?

I really think we need to start our speed for the counters. Get Mabil starting this one so those long balls like against Turkey have two running for it.

Yeah I remember that from the friendly. I brushed Richards off as such a clown that he's hardly relevant. Bloke is so overrated.

That's right but I think the initial goal should be that 4th isn't possible anymore.

If both the next games are draws, all teams ending of 4 is conceivable.

I'm starting to think 3 points won't see teams necessarily advance and whether it's deserved is another discussion.

And yet first half we had a break on the right with Toure - hydradvertisng break - we restart with ball from same position but of course momentum and flow are lost and the opp have repositioned

Having a crack at Trump is what the whole world does, including Republicans in Congress.

Attacking him as a person is not remotely left. You may as well call a tomato or a cumquat lefty.

So please leave it out on this thread.
