Disappointing. Why approach the first half so negative and pin all the hopes on the second? Have the echo the thoughts between Volpato and Leckie, what on Earth is Poppa seeing. If we dont go after teams for 90min eventually your luck runs out, we saw that today with 2 weak goals by the USA.

You can see what Popovic was trying to do. He started defensive wingers and wanted to go into the 2nd half 0-0 and then attack the US CBs with Irankundas pace.

I hate the negativity of that call so much. It immediately puts the whole team on the back foot. It takes all the stress out of the US defence and allows them to settle.

I think we'd be far better testing their defence early with Toure + Irankunda. You could add Volpato for service and drive, Velupillay for pace or Metcalfe for his interplay and positional nouse. It would all work. I'd have picked Volpato.

It was the wrong decision by Popovic. Leckie just doesn't have it anymore. It was a ridiculous decision to start him.

Turkiye was the best of Popovic and the US was the worst.

I don't see how we would've nullified their early pressing and play. The midfielder and defenders were the reason for the lapses and goals.

Circati was way off for the first goal. The first half was more about preventing goals than scoring.

I so wish to restart this game. We got a lot wrong early on. The later stages looked better but the USA didn't really need to fight by then.
