Okon's job will be to shut everything down so it makes sense. Metcalfe is a better choice here as he can come more centrally and Italiano can go higher up.

Once we get the ball the 2 mids are nowhere in attack so we need someone like a Metcalfe to move around.

But compare to the rest he is still playing at the highest level in la liga. Beach is still playing at domestic league and not even that outstanding.

Big call especially with Ryan.Beach did well against Switzerland and now that he is there I hope he has a blinder.I am disappointed for Ryan but life goes on.Irvine has great field presence but is just past his best.Okon needs to put in a big defensive effort and hopefully can play the role that Mooy used to have by being the outlet for the defenders and the conduit to the forwards.

We could have named Patrick Beach between the sticks for our last group stage match against Paraguay but definitely not against a side as strong as Turkey.
