Socceroos vs Paraguay 2026 World Cup match thread 🇦🇺🇵🇾

Hoping for a narrow win for Turkey now I'd say. Means US won't rest players against them to get top spot so then hopefully Turks don't pick up 6 pts. Then a draw would do for us against Paraguay for second spot.

With Paraguay winning though, we don't have to worry about how USA or Turkey play against eachother. We would simply need to not lose to Paraguay (unless Paraguay wins by more than 3 against Turkey)
 
Almiron is a massive apart of their counter-attack.

That is a huge out for them and their chances against us.

Non football types have no idea. Ref issues have been correctly raised but making that the first point of contention after the game is wrong.

The main problem is how much Popovic and certain players got wrong.

Surely we want Paraguay to win (as unlikely as that is now due to Almiron's stupidity). It would guarantee us third place no matter what, and a draw in the last game would get us second.

A rule that is so subjective is a rubbish rule. We all know they’d never send a US player off under this rule.

I think so. The issue regardless would be losing to Paraguay dents out GD and makes it tougher to go through on 3 points. Probably in the undeserved category then.

Paraguay would want to win regardless to go second so they'll have an incentive to fight while both teams know a draw could also be enough.

We're the earlier groups so we won't know the 3rd placed rankings and it could be a very nervous wait to get through.

I guess it's like the old school rules where they suspend anyone who gets in a fight
