I think we're starting Aiden O'Neill so we can get him to full fitness ahead of our World Cup campaign getting underway but Mathew Leckie would fit the description of the Socceroos' equivalent of Emily van Egmond more so though.

We need more games with Italiano being told to get up and down the wing and be ruthless.

I think this type of opponent is a good way to see Trewin for his defence. Trewin's nice pass to Hrustic must not be the tag that he's entirely capable as a wingback.

Eric Dier scored an own goal off a Degenek cross and suddenly everyone wanted him to be the right back.
 
Hopefully Irankunda and Volpato proven they should be starting together. If Tete fires. I'd even go as far as giving him an hour to soften Turkey up. If we can start Nabbout against France then a got Yengi would be fine. If things turn bad then bring Toure on. I'm not sure the game will be open in the first hour for Toure anyway.
 
With more players to have their world cup dream shattered this week with injury, we could lose 100:0 today but if everyone comes through healthy I won't care in hindsight. I want a good showing but health is the priority here.

I get the slight feeling that this will be our back 3 and hopefully our 2 inside forwards are starting today.
 
Bloody O'Neill though. Talk about being given all the help and protection in the world and someone like Balard just gets shit on. Hope O'Neill can rediscover that Ecuador game magic.

Not enjoying wat i am seeing of Italiano . Seems pretty lazy, fouls when he gets beaten. Popovic seems to be trying to encourage him but im not sure why when pops plan is sitting back 🤔

Switzerland have named their starting XI for the friendly against the Socceroos, with a fairly solid lineup that sees Gregor Kobel starting between the sticks for them and Granit Xhaka leading the line as captain.

Given Popa's defensives streak (and the offensive strength of the opponents) I think Trewin at RWB is probably how we will end up starting against Turkiye and the USA at least.

I think both teams will want to put in a good performance and the tournament in the back of their mind probably won't see too many fireworks today.

One of the worst friendlies I remember was the one in Copenhagen around 2012. I hate when we have practice games and look lethargic.
